What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

I didn't have to do anything to the Tacoma today. That's what makes them great trucks.

Final items arrived to complete my gun mount in the truck.

 

You don't see many of these around. So naturally I had to snap a pic next to it. It makes me miss my old G2. Best Tacoma I ever owned.

 

Yesterday I had a new Kenwood Excelon DMX809S installed with a Kicker 47KEY200.4 amp. I've got Focal ISU 650 speakers enroute. It already sounds way better than the old Pioneer unit that bit the dust.

 

Wouldn't it have been easier to just mount the holster to the side of the console?

 

Got news the other day my lower shaft for my steering has been beefed up! One of the worst things to break on the trail Thankfully a buddy had a spare, only it wasn’t sized for my steering rack, so it took some muscling to swap.

 

Didn’t want to drill holes in the console. Also the holster just unclips from the mount and clips into my belt.

 

I used to use my truck as a holster. Many classes have stated to keep it on you at all times. Not calling you out, but what made you want to mount it to your truck? (I used to have a holster mount on my CC as well)

Getting ready for rear long travel so I figured i would build a bedcage.
Also have plans to make a detachable RTT rack as well.

 

It’s for when I’m driving. Although I do practice pulling from my waist while in the truck. I feel pretty confident pulling from this mount will be quicker in an emergency draw in the truck. When I get out of my truck my firearm is always on my person.

 

Having it mounted on the side of the console is a much faster grab then having to lean over, pull your shirt up out of the way, and possibly remove your seatbelt. I carry concealed and have had LEO training. He said he would have it on his person when he leaves the vehicle. It’s also a lot less obvious if you are drawing the weapon from the side of the console during a possible incident than from your waistband. I’ve had to draw from a holster while driving a police car. It’s a lot harder to draw behind a seatbelt. Just my thought though.

Gave up on finding OEM and then started looking for Dee Zee...those are also unobtanium. I have suspicions they were Toyota's supplier for those, pretty coincidental they're both NLA at about the same time. Giving Westin a shot, never had anything of theirs before but seems like it will be good enough to throw crap on it and drive around..hopefully it flattens out overnight!

 

Valid points, I drive with it cleared. So shirts tucked under, so is my belt. Maybe I just didn't have it set up correctly to my center console but I like my current set up better.
