Full on removed the cowl cover and cleaned it all out really good. Gunk was stuffed in the windshield wiper blade holes; the fenders were full of gunk and all. Shoulda see the water and stuff in it coming out as I ran water straight in it. Water runs out fast and clear now. Hopefully this clears up the pesky wet floorboards every time it rained real good

that is caused by there not being a shield on the cowl port and gap in the cowl trim that there is a bulletin and revised part to replace it with.

I've never heard of someone recommending replacing the OEM cowl. Where's the thread?

Mine was so bad because I got it at 130k miles and never cleaned it myself. A lot of under tree parking in my 4 years of having it too.

So I've got a leak that's developed. Will toyota comp me a new $350 cowl in the latest version?

I just bite the bullet & got a new one. It’s better to buy when it’s a sale. Might be cheaper this coming week. I had to buy my new one

I did the same thing today. It was pretty nasty under there and at the bottom of the fenders. Got it all cleaned out. Also gave the engine compartment a simple green bath. Also, did the cerakote treatment to the cowl.

Anyone who's messed with changing headlight bulbs knows how frustrating those damn metal clips are, especially when they fall out. I put some black RTV silicone across the opening that bridges over the clip to hold it in place. Now I can rotate the clip to remove the bulb without the clip falling out. Someone on here told me about this a while back and I just now got around to doing it. No pictures unfortunately.

Oh dear. My first major "ahh ****" on this thing. Was cursing the prior alignment tech as I put the second extension on my breaker bar, but I guess that wasn't a nut on there like the rear side...I'm guessing I won't be so lucky as to just be able to bend the tabs back?

EDIT: Looks like I am far from the first to do this and...yes, I am that lucky - because I know someone who can lay a nice bead down unless I want to be brave and dust off the ol' Hobart hiding in the corner of my garage..

Time to buy some of these and get someone to weld them together and in place.

I put a little black rtv on back of my shark fin, my boss mentioned the gap on the back. Unit was loose just had a little separation on the back
I dropped my spare wheel and fluid filmed all above it
Fluid filmed by oem bottle jack as well
And cut a few 2x6 for jack base in that area as well

Took advantage of the rare perfect weather in FL today, 60s & low humidity so I rattle canned the skid w/ rustoleum flat black, bout 4 coats

Never liked the lightness of the orig finish with the darkness of the truck overall

..I'm keeping it stock..I'm keeping it stock..I'm keeping it stock..I'm keeping it stock..I'm keeping it stock..also I am fortunate enough to have CNC and welders at my disposal, I might cook up something with a little more panache.

Left here for the night. Weekend goal was both sides off but waaaaay more battle here than I anticipated. Next step is figuring out how I want to get that arm cut out of there. Laughed at the sawzall, too recessed for grinders, and the air hammer was just cracking and mushrooming what is left. Diablo carbide recip blade maybe? Working on top of the Slugger box was giving me some ER-worthy ideas.. :bananadead:

Had 16 inch trd pro beadlocks installed with a new pair of 265/75/16 bfg KO3's. Finally got around to trimming the stock mudflaps for more clearance. Gave it a quick wash after as the weather was great.IMG_1306.jpg
