This has been over the past couple of weeks. Original drum brakes lasted 238k miles. I replaced the alternator last week at 241k miles. I dont have any pics of that work though. 20241211_181026.jpg 20241211_181038.jpg

Installed a PRP vinyl console cover. Really nice fit, but I'm almost ashamed to admit how long it took me to get it just right :frusty:

Made some headway with the rear frame. Prepping to notch the frame for the axle and plate that is to be consistent with the dk kit.

Took a couple of hours just measuring things. Really glad I like to mostly get to stare at my truck due to not having space all the time. 20250202_172657.jpg 20250202_172645.jpg 20250201_195158.jpg

I think this adapter will only work with 2014 and up. Does the 2012 have Entune in it? I think that's needed to work with the CarPlay adapter.

Still a 5100 series sourced from an en entirely different vehicle. Ordered with 255/70 valving and verified compression and extended lengths. Tacoma specific shock absorbers are quite overpriced imo probably due to the pin top design and demand.

Started fitting some new seats. Not looking forward to the process as a whole, which involves the b-pillar portion of the cage, but can't wait to have them in.

I did the inverter 400w anytime mod and installed some extra outlets in the cab.

Yes, I know I scratched the hell out of the console, but at this point that's the least of my cosmetic worries.
I used some of those Wago lever nuts to make the connections so replacing or adding more later on will be way simpler. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CJ5QF3VX

Needle bearing delete, installed ECGS clamshell and new CV axle. Original cv was sending vibrations thru the pedals/floorboards - came out in two pieces - where the spider bearing attaches to the shaft at the diff…. Axle seal removal/cleaning then new seal. The bearing removal tool from ECGS worked first try. Took 4-5hrs but the ride is so much better - no more vibrations or steering wheel wobble.

Have the passenger side bearing and another axle ready to go in - maybe this coming weekend.

Thanks to all of the posts here on TW - axle/seal replacement process, torque specs and experiences etc. - couldn’t have done this without them.

Yea I saw that after posting. It does have Entune I'm pretty sure, but don't know what version. I do see where people update to software version 3.2 which is what came in 2014s I think, so not sure what would prevent it from working, but also might brick the head unit if I go down this wormhole.

I adjusted the bulbs from this earlier post. I did not have them positioned properly but now they seem to look normal.

Good job. Blinding other drivers isn't just dangerous for them. You're at risk, too.

Honestly at least he adjusted them. LED lights properly adjusted in our truck aren’t bad. Those Tesla and newer Acura and Honda are blinding and not to mention every dumbass driving around with there high beams on in my area.

Just got my 09 out of the shop. I had a list of needs and wants. First, the needs. Valve cover gaskets, timing cover gaskets, front axle seals/boots, clock spring, and suspension work. Had all that taken care of and on to the wants. These were new wheels and the bonus of getting a lift with the suspension swap. Went with the Tacoma Trail edition rims and an OME MT64 kit along with new leaf springs, upper and lower control arms, bushings and ball joints. It feels like new. I went up one size on the tires to 265 75 16. The tires and wheels went on before the lift and there was a little rubbing on the front driver’s side mud flap. Once the lift was installed it went away.
Next on my agenda but a good way off to recover from the hit will be to address some paint issues like chips and scratches. Ive had it since new and always planned to keep it. So, knowing what I spent was a fraction of what a new one is, has me feeling pretty good this morning.

I rarely drive my truck in the dark because I have a different car that I drive mostly on the road and use my truck more for off-road stuff. When I do drive it at night it's normally on the trail. It seems like a lot of newer Vehicles lights are much brighter and hit you in the eyes more. I have a new Subaru Outback wilderness and sometimes I will get people flashing me even though my low beams are on
