i seen them on a 2004 xcab with 1.5" spacers and it sat real clean with 32s...

a lot of folks have had luck by grinding the calipers down about 1/8" or so... you can search TTORA for that info...

i have only heard of a few who ground too much and screwed up their calipers, so do it nice and slow...

its not about proper offset or backspace... at 4" he has plenty of backspace...

its the dimple die on the inside of the wheel...

one person who was successful with this wheel, grind down the dimples on the inside of the wheel 1/16" and then proceeded to grind down the vein on the caliper where the brake fluid flows as that is the part of the caliper that hits the dimple dies on the wheel... but be very careful not to grind too far down...

others have had success with a 1/8" spacer and keeping the stock wheel studs or maybe even consider replacing the wheel studs with longer ones and you should be fine...

keep the wheels... they look bad ass on a first gen taco...

Just installed the usa spec ipod adapter, which was a christmas present. However, i got frustrated when putting the dash back together and i've decided to finish it tomorrow.

Anyone that has installed one on a 1st gen, where did you mount the actual adapter box?

Mike, what are the specs on your wheels?

    16x8 d windows...what BS?

Also, do you know if a 15x8 d window would fit on first gens? I know I see a lot of d window steelies on our trucks but dont know if they're 15 or 16 (im guessing 16 would have a better chance to fit?)

ya know, i was going back on my old notes as i was going with that wheel back in 2004, and you are right... it wasn't that much...

i did see someone mention 1/32 and another mention grinding down to 3/4 of the vein at an angle...

i never wanted to grind the caliper down either so i went with the D window steel wheels...

but them soft 8 wheels are bad ass...

I didn't "mount" it, mine is just sitting behind the center console - just behind and above the 12 volt outlets. It is relatively light and didn't have enough weight to move around so it isn't an issue.

Yeah, thats where i have it laying right now, probably where i'm going to leave it. Did you come up with a way to secure the ipod or do you just put it in the cupholder or something?

I'm assuming the clearance on the inside of the wheel is the same for the 15 and 16, yeah?

I wanna go 15 steelies due to price. What made you go with the 16s?

    16s were just convenient...

that, and with the long travel kit, the 16s clear the custom lower ball joints...

I bought the ProClip mounting system(proclipusa.com). Not cheap, but now that I have had it for a couple of months, I can say it was worth every penny. Took no time to install, fits both my iphone and ipod perfectly.

Ok so I bought some FOX/Fabtech coilovers from these fourms and I sent them to FOX to be rebuilt and that went pretty smooth. It took about 2 1/2 weeks to get back tho. But thats besides the point. I got them and I installed them about 2 days ago. The install was pretty easy/straight forward. At first i was super pissed cause i couldnt get the lower A-arm to drop down but then my retarded self figured out that i needed to disconnect the sway bar and lo and behold it drooped more. Awesome. I didnt get any install pics but I removed some Procomp ES3000 struts. I dont know if they provided any lift but they rode like crap. These ride really smooth but thats probably because I only have them cranked up about an inch or so. I wanted to get it just about level but it looks like it came out a bit higher. But I like it. I think it looks badass. I like the style.

    This is the Tacoma before
