Painted my rims black, unfortunately I have to touch them up. Wamp Wamp. still look good in my opinion though.

Did the "DBBD1 alternative locker anytime mod" that I found on another forum. It took literally 2 minutes to get the switch wired and working for a test run. Took another 30 minutes to decide on and implement my switch location.

    null_zpsd51b8f00_f249876c2b3efec93ea7e8d8033629be3b3da2e6.jpg

Not sure if I like the mod. I liked that in my 4runner you don't even know the mod is there, it just locks any time. My taco is 2009 and this was an old mod for pre-2009 tacos. It makes things pretty clunky with the electronics in these trucks. Sure it locks up in all transfer case modes now. But flipping the switch doesn't disable abs like I was expecting, and it throws the CEL at 30mph plus. So I might be looking into a conventional method for this instead and just use the switch for abs disable.

how do you know when/if your wheel bearings are going? I have a low drooning sound in the front right wheel that I can hear from the cab and feel on my feet. I'm 99.9% sure it's not my tires because it's not always there and not 100% constant when it is.

I think a couple indicators are if it pulls to one side, and if you have an infrared thermometer show one hub hotter than the other. I'm sure there are other ways though. Maybe jack it up, shake the wheel and see if it moves more than it should, or grinds when you rotate it. :notsure:

after driving for a while, if you touch the wheel hub and you burn yourself, the bearing is bad :)

When my Jeep had a bad one, it was extremely obvious by heat. Not saying all will be like that though.

That's classic wheel bearing. Buy one of the completed assemblies from nj636 and swap it out before it fails.

25k service. Feel bad for the techs, I still haven't washed the truck from my last wheeling trip.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
I installed the 3/4 preload isolators from wheelers day before yesterday, heres some pics. It ride a tiny bit stiffer than before, but so far no problems at all. I love it.

Yes, i took it off awhile back. Its only really noticable on expansion joints on the interstate at 80 mph, a little sway but i love it and have zero regrets.
