Unfortunately, no. It was a phone call. And based on what I was told I thought there wasn't anything I could do about it. It's my wife's car so I rarely drive it, and always forget about the things she should be checking on it....

Washed it up from the recent hunting trip.

Got my mini girl shovel finally.

Pulled off the Wet Okoles to send them in for repair.

Thinking about mounting my rack somehow without using quickfists. I am starting to think it might not be safe.

Swapped out 3 of the 4 idlers and the serpentine belt. Pulley #4 for the tensioner should be here tomorrow morning. Super easy, one-man job from under the truck. Maybe took an hour with a beer beside me and lots of screwing around. Trust me though, don't try to crack the tensioner pulley bolt with a pin in place to keep it disengaged. Duh... Snapped the little loop on the tensioner arm but there's enough left to still use it.

While waiting for the last pulley, I wire-wheeled the skid plate and blasted it with flat black rust paint as well as everything I could see under the engine. Oil undercoating will follow in the next week or 3. Sometimes I wish I lived in the no-salt south...

    Damn she's quiet now. :)

Total cost for parts including tax was $435.

Did the anytime fog light mod today, as well as wired in the new (to me) LED lights on the bumper. Worked out pretty well and didn't take long at all!

I agree that the Quickfists might be sketchy at highway speeds especially if you had a ligh load up there that displaced a lot of air and added to the sail effect

Or deal with hot/cold weather that could weaken the straps. I can't count the number of plastic or rubber bits the alternating hot/cold in NY has broken. Also, are the UV resistant?

Those numbers are easy to meet though.

Normal oil consumption for Chrysler products is 1 quart every 4000 on new vehicles and 2000 on older vehicles.

You can recover this oil from your driveway :D

60/60 assuming the new car warranty, but your "Certified Used" refreshed that to the 84/100... you should be covered, and I would elevate it to corporate if they balk.

That's going to one of my arguments. And is why I'm going with the wife when she takes the car in.

    Good luck.
I hope they take care of you, but it may require a trip to the corporate ladder a bit.

Thanks. I'm prepared for that. I printed the TSB out fully expecting them to not even know about it.

Even if it is, what happens if one of the forward straps breaks while going down the highway? Will the other one hold it down and keep the rack from lifting up and flipping off the back of the truck?

Yeah they say that on the package. I have had some back there in the bed or a while as well. No issues with them.

Quick Fist states there safe working load at 25 pounds a piece and there are 10 up there. They also state that three will hold a hi lift jack.

I took a 300 mile trip with it the other day with stuff up there and the hi lift mounted to it. My fear is a wreck that is forceful enough to make it fly off.
