Mounted my pro fit and ultra slim holder. I will see how I like them when driving to work. Install was quick and easy. Seems solid enough but will check for shaking while driving

Finished up my sound deadening project. All 4 doors, floor and rear wall done.

Great improvement for the stock stereo, road noise is a little better but the windows still let in noise.

    Full write up to follow.

Took it for a short ride today to flex it out and get some pics in the daylight. Over 20" of travel side to side like that. I measure 10.5" on the stuffed side and about 33" on the drooped side but it's still on the ground. On the lift it measured 31" with both sides drooped. Haven't tested stuffing both sides yet.

What kind of welding was that? I'm new to welding aswell but I'd suggest picking up a stick welder. My instructor told me 70% of people coming in to challenge there MIG welding certificates fail the xray and bend tests. But have been laying down picture perfect welds forever. The process hides faults and welds come apart, if your not trained. I've seen somebody bury bolts under a beautiful looking weld lol. On the other hand If stick welding looks good, it's strong!

Bw s256 turbo with 3 in glass pack dumped pre axle raptor liner bed and top rails and fenderflares and rocker panels. Hunter side steps. Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
I've used a stick welded for years on tree stands and other hunting stuff, also little odds and ends, even made a pair of sais last year for Halloween (Raphael from tmnt) and a small amount of exhaust on my trick as well. my dad has welded countless pieces of farm equipment and I have yet to see a bead of stick weld that looks good ha. nothing that a grinder and spray paint can't fix though. I understand what ur saying though. with a stick stored u get much better penetration that with a mig that more or less sits on top of what if working on. but dang it, I can weld better left handed with no helmet with a not than I can ity a stick (cosmeticlally speaking anyway)

Lol sounds about right. Just takes a few tips, specific for the electrode your using and the welds can come out looking great. But an ugly strong weld is better then a good looking weak weld any day.

If you know what you're doing, stick welding turns out looking great. If you know what you're doing, mig welging gets great penetration. I welded armor parts for a couple years for the M1117 APV using TIG, MIG, and spray arc. Stick welding isn't as efficient as the ones I mentioned.

I've had to repair other peoples stick welds that looked good, but failt NDT. Remembern it ain't what you put on it, it's what you put in it. That being said, I WON'T let one of my welds leave my area if it is not very aestheticaly pleasing. I started welding at a young age, and started out as a helper doing the shit work.
I don't know how to put this nicely, but almost every "welding instructor" I've ever met is a terrible welder. That's why they don't weld for a living. We average about 2 instructors/month take weld tests at our shop, and every one has failed miserably

I guess I made my first "mod" to the Tacoma today, I added a set of Weathertech floor liners. Those things are nice!
