Looks good. You need to lose the badging altogether. At least the Toyota badge. You don't need Toyota twice on the tailgate.

I don't think that'll give the panels more strength. Maybe he meant tongue-and-groove interlocking, like hardwood flooring?

I installed some 5100s this week. I set the front at 1.75. Now I am just trying to figure out what to do to the back.

I did the cab mount chop today. I just cut them back; I'll have to get a local fab shop to weld a plate in place - I hate not having access to a welder. No more rubbing, so that is nice.

    Honeycomb composite sleeper platform.
Panels are the AA3.6-80 from Plascore. You can find any number of different composites structures on the market. These fit the price / performance specs. The boards are keyed with a centered 1/4" 303 stainless rod extending and locking into the panels 3/4". Panels are framed with poplar, glass cloth and resin providing added strength and resistance to getting hit from the edges. Front panel flips up for ease of access to gear front loaded.

Truck is the short bed and I'm 6'2" yet can sleep back there comfortably. You can grab the standard camping pads or custom cut some memory foam padding. All depends upon what keeps you comfortable.

Ahhh cool, that's the first time I've heard of them. Let me know how you like them and if they are worth it in your opinion.

I have a radar detector and an auto DVR to capture "stupid human tricks." Both used the cigarette lighter connections. The Radar detector is 12v but the DVR is 5v.

Not a big deal for a geek like me. I built a 5 volt power regulator (you can buy one for less than 10 bucks on line.) I had the parts from another project that did not work out (powering the factory mic.)

Tapped into power using the 4WD fuse (not being used) and snaked the wires under the dash for the detector and up the side and under the top to my DVR.

Clean and no wires hanging around. I can hide the wires if needed.

It did take me about 2 hours, as I solder and shrink wrap all the wires.

NEXT.... cut down the front mud flaps and install my oil catch can.

Cheap and easy mods are the best!

Put my old Yakima rack back on and added a roof rack. She's finally ready for my Memorial Day weekend backcountry adventure from crater lake to sisters Oregon. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1400511765.111532.jpg
