That's few and far between. But when I'm washing my truck, I can find any dings or chips or other imperfections and take care of them.

Changed spark plugs at 122k miles. Was surprised to find the original plugs still in there :eek:Guess no one paid attention to the 30k replacement interval.
Took a breaker bar to get the plugs out - other than that the instructions posted by Chris4x4 were spot on.

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/technical-chat/30479-how-spark-plug-change-1-gr-fe.html

Measured the old plugs and the gaps were anywhere between 0.060 and 0.072".

With the new plugs at 0.040", the engine is noticeably quieter and smoother. I am sure it will improve further as the ECM adjusts to the change over the next few days.

That is a scary moment when it comes down to a breaker bar on a spark plug. You never know what's going to come apart at that point.

Try using an air impact wrench to remove a spark plug. I spent a summer working at a gas station, and one day a nice lifted F150 came in. The guy said he needed a mechanic to remove a stuck spark plug. The mechanic was off that day, but I offered to take a look. The stupid thing was so tight that neither a breaker bar or air wrench could budge it. I grabbed the impact, set it at full torque and hammered that plug for 5 minutes. It finally came loose and we were able to get him back on the road with a new plug. Metal bonding is a crazy thing.

Yes, I was sh!tting a brick, till I was able to turn them at least one full turn and then i knew it was good to come out. Scary for sure!
Used anti-seize on the new ones :)
