What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

I had the same issue with my roof rack, still haven't fixed it yet though. Did you get new bolts from the dealer?

 

I did. Well, going to at least. I purchased it through a deal Unchained set up, so I reached out to the dealer that gave him the hook up, and they are sending me a new set of hardware. So once I receive that, I'll replace the bolts that are stripped once I am able to remove them, and then will play with the brackets and try to bend them down like @Blackout14 mentioned. Hopefully I can get them down enough so that it fixes the issue without having to do anything else like use silicone, or other things of that sort.

 

I hear ya, I may try and order a new hardware kit. Though I only have one stripped screw on the drivers front, but that is the side that has a tiny gap in the front. Let us know how it turns out and I'll probably tinker with mine a bit as well. Thanks!

 

What did you use to paint your skid plate or did you get it powdercoated?

 

Will do. Once I receive the new set and have a bit of time to play with I'll post back how I made out. I think, at least from what I've read and received as far as input, that the main issue is the brackets not being bent down enough. I didn't bend them at all, and to be honest, I read the instructions a few times and went along with them as I was installing it last night, and if it mentioned anything in there about bending them, I completely missed it. I also did it after a hard played soccer game, so was a bit tired too already.

The replacing the bolts is more of a "thing" I want to do, just in case I need to remove the rack, and also because I like to have my things as nice and neat as possible, and as close to new as possible, and having stripped screws on there just doesn't sit well with me. Not to mention that a few aren't even screwed in all the way because they stripped while screwing them on.

 

Nothing yet, because I am picking up my very first Tacoma today !!! Barcelona Red 2015 DCLB.
So what should be the second thing I do? First is Winter tires, no question. Allready have those. What next?

 

First of all, CONGRATS! Not a fan of red, for Portuguese soccer reasons, but that's not relevant here. Just a stupid bit of info. I would say either running boards, or tube steps, or something along those lines. But that's just me! I'm sure you'll get a ton of feedback from everyone!

I agree with getting all weather floor mats and a bed mat are a must.

 

Tires and wheels were my favorite mods. Made the biggest difference in my opinion.

 

Where did you get it and how hard was it?

 

Very just taped of the nose of the truck and sprayed a bunch of coats. Let it dry for like 15 minutes in between coats.

Oh I didn't know it was plasti dip. I use the rustoleum peel coat. Did you have to sand it any?
