Hour east of St. Louis. We've done more work to other TW members trucks there than we have to mine. Lots of fun netting other folks and helping with their projects.

Let me know when you get close so I can head over and meet you there. :taco:

I looked at yeti but 350$ was just too much for me personally , i was at sams club and igloo makes a xtrrme marine cooler for 199 and compared to yeti, it has all the same warranties and features plus a intergrated ruler. It's sweet, couldn't be happier with it

So I suspect whoever had my truck did some mods and removed them but this is just weird. I was looking for the antenna wrench in the glovebox (apparently I didn't get it from the used dealer) and found some packaging talking about wiring up a rear view camera in the tailgate handle. I looked and can't understand why my handle has this weird split, but in the bright sunlight I couldn't see a lens of any sort. Ideas?image.jpg

That 'packaging talking about wiring up a rear view camera in the tailgate handle' is the connector to use to reconnect the factory back-up camera if you ever take the tailgate off. The lens is on the bottom of the smaller piece that doesn't open the tailgate. Yours being a 2013 like mine the back-up camera should be on the driver's side in the rear view mirror, unless you possibly have factory Entune. There is a push button switch that, when in the "on" position should illuminate a green light beside of it on the rear view mirror. Hope this helps.

I will get a pic later but I think either they added it or ripped out the mirror. I just have the bone boring stock base mirror with no wiring running to it, and it's not an Entune I think? I'm not sure how to tell? I'll google some pics to see, but I have the non-satellite stock head unit.

Looks like this one in this thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/another-2013-touch-screen-radio.286542/

That's the Non-Entune head unit. The camera feed would be on the head unit screen if it was Entune. Since it's not, the camera feed would be in the rear-view mirror. If your mirror doesn't have any wires running to it then you probably don't have the backup camera, which would be mounted in the smaller area of the tailgate latch housing.

Also, not sure when backup cameras became standard, but you might have all of the wiring in your truck for the camera if you wanted it.

I will definitely add it to my "to do" list and I do see a wiring harness going into the tailgate when i have it open. The idea has appealed and I've had no complaints about the head unit yet but at some point will probably want to upgrade it and the speakers so maybe adding the camera too at that point, thanks man :)

For what it's worth, I actually like the stock head unit. I installed an Alpine 'brick' style amp and a full set of Infinity speakers and I love it. I think there's a few tutorials and links to cameras and mirrors on Ebay in here, too.

I don't suppose you'd care to share which amp and speakers? :)

No vibe problem with the CBI. I point out vibration because other hood mounted hinges have that problem (from what I've read).

@j.d.mason you won't have a problem. To be clear... The CBI mount goes straight to the frame. Others mount just to the hood bolts. When just mounting to the hood, if the plate isn't beefy, vibration becomes an issue.
