That's more of an owner issue than it is a breed issue.

Actually no. Most attacks and bites by "family dogs" go unreported. If they are reported on they are attributed to someone pushing the dog to defend itself. I think you find through unbiased research that more "attacks" and bites are from small dog breeds than "dangerous" breeds. Most don't realize this but before this whole underground Michael Vick dog thing, pits were the nanny dogs of families. They were the family dogs, reasons cited as follows: loyal, calm, cuddly, gentle, intelligent, easily trainable, non violent, and friendly.

I guess people forget that people fight labs and goldens as well. Or that the little rascals had a pit, or that target used a bull terrier for its mascot. All dogs are born good dogs, its their upbringing and handlers that sway them. Little dogs just suffer from nepolian syndrome and feel the need to be extra defensive. In all my time working with animals, (went to school for captive wildlife care and education) i have never been but by a "dangerous" dog. Its always been labs, goldens, and small breeds.

The only reason you hear about it more is the media pushing it to the public. Like race issues that are not actually race issues. Its all about instilling fear when fear isn't justifiable. A dog is less likely to turn on a person than the average person walking down the street. People are dangerous, not dogs

i would agree with that but i've also been with some that seemed very friendly with people but when other animals came around were fairly violent. that to me was concerning

i can definately go along with the little ones having napoleans syndrome mine can be quite a little bitch. i remember the dog warden telling me 1 time the worst ones they had to deal with were chows they are so unpredictable and a short time later a friend of mines daughter came home from shool and while walking it the dog turned on her and did quite a bit of damage to her face and arms. but as in most other things in life i'm sure they are how you influence them to be

Thats a description of basically every rescue dog or abused dog regardless of breed. Have you ever worked with rescue dogs? Most are scared and selective. Think of what they have been through. A good handler will train it out. They end up comfortable, know they are loved, and its no longer an issue. If it is, you keep them away from other dogs or on a leash. Breed has nothing to do with it.

my last 3 have been rescues 2 retired greyhounds god knows those poor things are abused but what a fantastic pet and indoor dog. our current was a tornado victim when she was a puppy she's great just very food posessive gets along good with the cats but not the most friendly with other dogs. 22 pounds of raging fury thinks she's 10 ft tall and bullet proof

Definitely!!! I had a red white and blue sit on top a few years back that I regret selling. Just glad I'm getting another one to play with. So much fun fishing from them.
