What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

I put my blacked out decals back on and painted the back bumper to match. Should I paint the chrome part of the grill black too?

 

that's all up to you man. personally if my badges were blacked out and my rear bumper on my silver taco i would want to color match the grill.

 

I lost one of those metal clips , but I had some left over plastic clips from my stereo faceplate and it is holding just as well.

Pushbutton start was part of the alarm system install. Got spoiled when I had my Infiniti G35, and couldnt wait for Toyota to get with the times.

 

Installed my exhaust this morning. It took me just under an hour to pull out the stock exhaust and put in the aFe. I was really impressed with the welds and craftsmanship that went into it. Even the band clamps are badass and heavy-duty.

The sound is exactly what I was hoping for: deep and mellow between 1500-2500rpm, throaty and mean from 2500-4000rpm, and absolutely no drone at highway speeds (60-80mph) in 5th gear. No raspiness, no rice-rocket "tinniness", I think aFe did a good job complimenting the Taco's 4.0 v6. I haven't noticed any gain/loss in power, but acceleration and throttle response seems to be a bit quicker and more sensitive.

I will try to get some good sounds clips of it if it's not raining tomorrow, even though my camera, handycam would not do this exhaust justice. I might try to get a 24bit stereo field recorder and sync it with video to capture the most accurate sound. All in all I'm very happy with my decision. And just a heads up, Amazon has this same kit for $316 right now w/ prime 2-day shipping free. It was $400 yesterday.

 

i lost one too . . . i even heard it jingling around up there but i could find it and just said screw it and put it back up with one. the screw keeps it tight enough. if i notice its popping or gaping i'll take it down and find a substitute. i was just happy to get my temp gauge back working haha.

 

Is that a kit? or was it a switch that you modified? I want one. I hate keys!

Put in an Optima Yellow Top battery this weekend; and also cleaned up all the wiring while I was at it. I also picked up a steel optima battery holder off eBay, which works much better than the factory battery hold down, since the Optima is a little smaller than the factory battery.

 

What's the third wire - lower left corner ? Ground ?

 

Today I finished painting the frame on the passenger side with Rust Bullet. I wanted to do the drivers side too but ran out of paint. I'll have to try to get that done next weekend.

 

Its not all that bad it pulls a little on f'ed up roads but it's manageable
