What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Question for you guys:

Can you 4WD swap a PreRunner with stock IFS parts? I know you can do it with a 1st Gen (As I have done) but I wasn't sure if it was the same story with 2nd Gens.

 

Not quite as easy
The front all bolts in but the tranny crossmember is different
Plus the 2nd gens never has a manual t-case (you can use the FJ)
And they never had manual locking hubs, you have to deal with the add

 

This is sort of in line with my plans for a front bumper- I'm going to do what I do and when I rip it off THEN I'll replace it with a metal one

 

Ah that's why I always see those threads on FJ T-Case swaps.

Simple project made with 4" cutting wheel and drill. Had some 1/4" aluminum stock laying around and used t slot nuts. Osh is going out of bus so the hardware is 40% off

 

Tell me about it. Its not quite cold enough to start burning wood here, but the smell of fresh cut wood has my entire yard smelling great. Need to go back to the woods next weekend to grab a half load just for camping/fall bonfires.

 

I've had Dynamat and Ensolite sitting around for a few years. Meant to do my whole cab back then but only got to do the doors and the back wall of the cab. Finally did the roof yesterday.

The roof is surprisingly just sheet metal with little to no insulation.


Started with the Dynamat.


Then topped it off with Ensolite.


Hopefully it makes it less noisy on road trips.

 

Finally got time to install a fumoto valve, M1-209a filter and 5.5 quarts of 5w-30 oil. Went a little over my 5k interval waiting for fumoto valve to be delivered.

 

From this mornings Fluid Film meet up.
There were 12 Tacomas there before i left ,passed a few more on the way out so i assume they were going to the meet up.

Slider touch-up Sunday.





Color matched powdercoat touch-up spray from my local powder coater.

 

Replaced rear axle seal that was leaking. You can see where it failed (first picture) spring popped out. Last picture is new seal.

 

Installed and wired up the @CaliRaisedLed ditch lights!

 

Teaching this one to drive... actually, she gets it.

Picked up some free parts (gave the almost new bug guard to another member at the meet up.)
Changed the interior light bulbs to LED, waiting for it to get dark so i can see the results.

Installed the craigslist magnaflow, have to say I'm very happy with it. Ran into one issue with the tac welded bolts on the flange. They blew apart when I cranked them off so I ground the flange off and put nuts and washers on.Here you go @Casper66 a quick sound bite!
