Post clay bar treatment. Good thing I bought more clay, drooped a piece of clay twice, :homer: D'OH! (yes, I tossed the pieces I dropped).
I do have some paint chips that I'll need to address, a couple of them have rust. I didn't see any swirls, I did see scratches that look like they'll buff out.

Yesterday, but still awesome today. Thanks for the bars @GHOST SHIP! The rig behind the truck is for when the wife joins me. This will primarily be solo trip stuff.20190703_173637[1].jpg

From someone who owns both, 2.7L all day every day. 22RE's have real finicky cooling systems, and like to pop head gaskets just like their 3.0L bigger brothers albeit not as frequently. Add in the miles of vacuum lines that could, and do go bad resulting in hard to find leaks. Oh and the plastic timing chain guides that like to self destruct. Honestly, I dont get why everyone has a hard on for that motor. Mine is at 197k and has had all the problems I listed above, just always seems to be nickel and diming me.

Eh, the 4.0 in my dads 08 moves...quickly lol. But the 2.7 in my 04 has a nice little pep to it when paired with a 5 speed. Fun little truck, dunno if Id want it in a 4 door though. But there is a reason Toyota hasnt altered the 2.7 much in what, the 24 years that theyve been using it? Its a down right reliable engine.

The 22re is a slow turd that makes merging onto freeways terrifying.

Installed was near $700 at a local shop. That was with the parking brake bypass, proper harnesses, dash bracket, backup camera.

Oh and today I noticed the powder coat is coming off of my skid plate in a couple places and it’s rusting. I’m thinking of powder coating it Silver to match the truck. What say you TW?0BC67860-538C-45DC-8221-38AB96007508.jpg

Kuntrykid it has car play for iPhone and also has a version for android run phones that runs off of your phone apps that are compatible with CarPlay. Waze and Google maps runs thru the touchscreen. Pretty nice. You can also use Siri and speak to reply to text as well.
