The same shit everyone else has.
    Lol.

Maybe 2-2.5 hours. My truck is pretty rust free for being a PA truck so.......

I did it with the truck on the ground and the wheels still on....

Followed the diy and it was pretty accurate.

Hardware broke free and came right out. The lower u joint bolt is kinda a pain in the dick to reach.

The upper slip joint is a bitch. Probably spent an hour on it. Bang it with a hammer. Heat it and soak in PB blaster. Repeat about 4 times. Spread the slip joint at the seam. Prepare to shake the fuck outta it and it’ll slowly loosen and eventually free up.

Lower joint wasnt as bad. Spread the end and PB blast the shit out of it too. Shake it back and forth and if you can get a chisel or something in there to hammer against it’ll pop off. Took about a half hour.

The problem is the splines on both ends get all junked up with dirt and shit so nothing just comes apart.

I did it over 2 nights. The first night was breaking all the hardware free and spraying PB to soak. The second night was fighting everthing loose.

Took about 15 minutes to reinstall the new shaft and another 15 to realign it.

Set the wheels straight when you do it then have someone hold the steering wheel when reassembling it. I just locked the wheel straight with 2 ratchet straps and it wasn’t as straight as I though. Way easier just to have someone hold it.

Also antiseize the shit out of all the splined parts.

Are those sliders? What brand is that?
I see what you mean about them looking low. How did you decide upon them?

not sliders as i don’t really need sliders. these are just fancy side steps that i got during prime days for $50 off. i’m not a fan of the standard tube/oval steps on tacomas and wanted something different.

Right on thanks. They look beefy. At that price I would just run it and see how you like it. I used to have the oval steps in chrome on my truck (on when I bought it) and didn't like the look. Later I picked up the Mobtown sliders. Heavy stuff, but I end up using it more than I think on and off-road.

I was in the same boat as you and I ended up installing a set of oem “plastic” style running boards since they sit relatively close to the body and don’t hang down lower than the rockers
