Finished my AC knobs. I got the color just right for my liking and fixed the wobble they have when attached. 20190812_222004.jpg 20190812_222020.jpg

    Pretty easy, buy these knobs:

    A/C Air Conditioning Control... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XD843MS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Buy both red and amber lens repair tape, I got it from advance auto parts:

    https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/3m-lens-repair-tape-1875-x-60-red-03441/6014453-P
    https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/3m-lens-repair-tape-1875-x-60-amber-03442na/6019625-P

For the color in my pictures, I laid one piece of amber tape over the back of the knob and two pieces of the red. Using an x-acto knife, cut around the outside edge of the circle so you're left with a disc of three layers stuck to the back. Take your time and make a clean edge as close as possible. Then cut out the middle circle.

To solve the issue of light coming through the edges, I took a piece of thin electrical tape and wrapped it around the circumference of the circle on the back and trimmed it away so it would block the light (completely optional).

Now that the knobs are finished, take a piece of electrical tape and wrap each connector that the knob slides onto. I did about two full rotations of tape. This helps reduce the loose play of the knobs. It was enough for me, but you can get creative with RTV and make it more secure/permanent. I wanted to option of taking them off if needed.

Now line up the knobs with the right orientation and slide them on. It's hard at first with the tape, but use a little wiggle and push hard, it'll go.

    That's it!

Got my ARB awning installed on the @upTOPoverland Alpha XL roof rack.
Set up the deluxe awning room to check it out. Sets up nice and quick but getting it back into the bag it came out of was a bit more tedious.
Love how functional it is and the aluminium awning cover rocks. This is the newest version with the dual colour LED lighting strip across the top. First one to leave the ARB USA warehouse .

Came with MGM topper. Added FJammer stereo. LED Bed lights on AOB Flux Capacitor Switch. Added AOB Spy Mode switch for TBD lighting, stay tuned.
I've seen that website before, but that one you linked to actually looks gray, which would make sense for the Sienna or Camry it had listed.
The one listed for the Tacoma/4 runner/tundra/Sequoia looks darker, but isn't for audio controls.

This is why I hesitate to have someone else paint any part for me,
because it's more than paint and I don't know if they take the extra step of sand-blasting. I used to have access to a booth for cheap but it only fit small parts.

I wonder how much a sandblasting shop would charge to blast a bumper. Last time I used one was to sandblast a backpack frame, and they charged me like $50.

I will look into paint then. It sounds nice, considering that gets rid of the "add powdercoat" option in the online order menu for a new steel bumper, which quickly tacks like $250 onto the $500 bumper price, making it $750.
I just hope the prepwork doesn't cost too much.
Unless another way to do it is rough sand with 60 grit or something, most of the surface

    I never thought about that,
the bare material when assembled is probably smooth, so blasting it rough inside the bumper may not be very possible
and rough metal is supposed to adhere paint better
Hopefully it doesn't rust from inside, due to steel maybe being more prone to rust than aluminum which just oxidizes

and I don't know if it's galvanized, ie dipped in a hot tank that chemically coats it with anti-corrosion coating
    (maybe it's not needed)

Was wondering why my gas mileage was worse than it should be, so I changed spark plugs and previous ones were around 52ish”, truck is at 80k now and have no idea when last owner changed them. Ended up going with NGKs and also decided to add a K&N air filter too.

I used one of those on my first change after I bought the truck from the dealer and it was so tight the filter colasped! :annoyed: I still had to stab it with a screw driver.:bananadead: hahaha

But yes those work great if you do not over tighten. I have always left my filters loose enough that i can get them off by hand after 15,000 miles. I think the extra oil on the new gasket trick helps with that too.

I sincerely hope you are not crawling under your truck with that set-up, I am not someone to tell anyone what to do, however a very good friend of mine is now crippled up pretty good and will be for sometime to come resulting from a malfunction with a system very similar. (don't take this the wrong way, not telling you what to do.)

I have to agree, probably not the safest option. I hadn't noticed that the jack stands were holding up the rear. Best to get at least two more jack stands for the front, but I would never rely on my hydraulic jack while underneath. Probably won't fail, but really don't want to risk it. A

I'm sure the tires would save him from any crippling injuries if they're on, so that's good.
