What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

This is a pretty F’in sweet idea! Is this Like a truck cap but you used a rack?

 

I don't have pics but when I cleaned my cowl out I screwed some wire mesh onto the HVAC intake tube, no more worry about large objects finding their way down there.

 

Man that’s a great idea. I’ll do that next time I have the cowl off

 

Got my steering wheel emblem wrapped in carbon to match the rest, got my hood scoop wrapped in Avery Satin Black, still not too sure If i really like it or not, and got my new alien gear shape shift holster mounted.

 

Slowly getting the build done... Just need to finish the front then chop the fenders and re-gear it.

Take one sheet of Kydex, cut and sand


Fit and sand some more





Stick this guy in it



Fitted and bonded in (3M weatherstrip adhesive)



Pull 14/2 stranded from battery, seal hole and rear drain holes in compartment.



Connect and test




Notch cover for cable pass through.
Done! Now I have a 12v circuit for my fridge



Add two more in cab USB circuits for wifi hot spot and Garman sat locator thingie

It's just a rack that I made from scratch, its something I've been wanting to make for awhile. Would love to sell a few of them.

Did you just dump your lawn mower bag on the floorboard and toss the filter in for the hell of it?

 

Honestly! I will say, the stick was my excavation tool, but everything else was above the filter.

 

Have you owned a first gen? The bumper has natural spots for beers on either side of the bumper when the tailgate's down. The second gen fails big time here. But, a first gen fail is the spring-loaded-arm cupholder thing. Taking the good with the bad, I made a sheet metal bracket that fit a Chevy Colorado cupholder (the one in the pic) and installed it in my old truck in place of the stock one. Well, now that I'm getting ready to sell that one, and returning it somewhat to stock, I thought I'd rig up that Chevy cupholder to make up for the bumper-beer deficiency in the second gen!

I just made another sheet metal bracket, this one longer and with a 90* bend, for the cupholder to mount to, drilled holes in it, attached it to the utility rail using some nuts from my parts drawer that had a shoulder/washer built in (these slide in the rail), and some bolts and lock washer to hold the whole thing together. It's a little wobbly, but for camping and cooking on the tailgate, it'll do nicely.

I don't know if that's the best explanation. I should have taken more pics.

I added LED’s in the storage area under the HVAC controls. The cup holders were already done. The camera phone makes them look brighter than they actually are.

 

I did the A-Pillar RAM Mount mod and mounted spod controller.

 

That turned out nice. I remember when you first posted that you were building it. Even better when you DIY

 

My 06 got some new plugs today... she’s much happier.

 

Finally found a cap, personally think the white looks good on the grey.
