just buy deutsche connectors and be done with it, seal is part of the connector body so no seal is required on the crimp! also molex mxl or higher end connectors are all designed like this!

 

This afternoon when I rolled into work

 

I have been building cables and wiring harnesses for 20 years, and while we admittedly don't build a ton of stuff that uses the wire seal type contacts I have never seen one that didn't call for it to be crimped with the insulation support crimp. Even with the seal in there it still is tight enough to just support the insulation. Most of the strength of the crimp should come from the wire crimp itself. Look at a machined contact for a circular mil connector, I don't know of any of these that crimp onto the insulation at all. With proper backshell strain reliefs and harness install stress relief, there shouldn't be any strain put on the contacts anyways.

I slid the rubber bootie over it. I see what you mean about the wires being exposed to the last little crimp areas....hioe the way I did it works

 

I was able to move 2” on either side by drilling new holes on the license plate lights bracket. I was able to gain 4 more inches of separation. I also just got my amber lens covers delivered from Amazon. I will still consider going further apart but they are fine for now.

Got my other 2 method wheels, just have to powdercoat up the bolts, and get them installed. Should be within three weeks

Unless you crimped it where it shouldn't be crimped it's a poor connection. It appears that you stripped the insulation off, put the wire into the hole of the connector, and only crimped on the wires insulation. The actual copper needs to be crimped upon for a solid electrical connection. But maybe I'm just looking at your picture wrong.
