What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Hmmm... says the adapters are for the speakers, but notes "Does not fit in dash corner in your 2020 Toyota Tacoma Pickup DoubleCab with JBL Audio System". Also discontinued, although I'm sure there's a replacement. So maybe it'll just be a simple splice.

I agree, they are much better than stock. But are they any better than the Subaru kickers?

 

Yes IMHO, had both, returned the Kickers once I installed the DS18s. The Kickers were better than OE, but not by much. After reading multiple reviews here and elsewhere I ordered the DS18s and was quite surprised by how much better, a bit louder and clearer they sounded.

 

had about 3.2-3.3 quarts left over to do my rear diff after changing the gear oil in the front diff. Wasn't enough for it to run out the fill hole so had to order another quart. Drove on it with the 3.2 quarts for a few days and everything seemed fine but went ahead and added more oil today until it ran out the fill hole. Took another half quart or so but i overfilled it a bit until it started dripping.

I had already changed the rear diff fluid at 500 miles (28,000 now). both the front and rear diff fluid looked pretty clean this time around. First time changing the front.

 

Nice, Ok. Sounds like a plan. Those are the easiest to replace anyway.

 

I had the same thought when I was putting them up there. Should of at least put a board across, maybe a future improvement.

 

My SR came stock with 245s the door said 32psi for those. I'm running 265/75/16 and I have found for my day to day comfort and MPG that 37-38 up front and 35-36 in the rear is good. That's just me tho.... Seems high just typing it in, but it works out well for me.

 

It says on the web page they fit 2011-2015 Tacoma but you have a 2022 and they fit yours, so they will fit my 19. It bums me when things don't match up....

Alignment is done!
Front end is stiffer but not jarring, it feels more planted and better over bumps. I love the level stance of the truck, it just feels better and more like a truck should.
Rear end is less hoppy when hitting bumps on corners which was my biggest gripe with OEM Billies.
All in all it's an improvement over the OEM Billy 4600s and I'm very happy with the performance so far.

The alignment shop called when done and told me that the truck is throwing error codes about the collision system not functioning and to see a dealer, I asked them to clear the codes on their $15k ODBC tool and they said they tried and they won't clear. This is directly related to the recalibration that the dealers say need to be done. So I took the truck to my trusted mechanic and he hooked up his scanner tool and told me that the alignment shop is full of shit, that they did not try to clear any codes, so he cleared my codes and I'm all set now. Below is the calibration that you were referring to that needs to be done, I'm not going to do mine unless the error code comes back, and if it does then I'm going to take it to a dealer and tell them to perform a zero point recalibration. I will not pay $600 - $700 for this calibration, that is the stealership grabbing cash as they always do! I suspect that I won't get the error codes again though.

 

Yesterday we went to the Lake Hartwell Safari in my Taco. It was a blast but there was an overly aggressive Ostrich who scratched my drivers side rear door. Now I see why people rent the shit box rental cars

Did the fab work and modifications to get this power distribution & Garmin switch setup ready to be painted and to go into the truck to be wired. There will be a rear aux block going into the box that will be of the 50a circuit breaker.

 

Shakedown complete. I have a slight bit of rubbing at full flex and lock. I think I’ll be okay once I get the castor to 3.5.

 

Nothing too exciting. Out with Royal Purple/ TRD filter. In with Mobil 1 EP/ NAPA filter. RP seemed like great oil no issues, truck was nice and quiet....for a Toyota*. Still came out with a purple tint. See how this M1 treats her.

Thanks for you input I might play around a little with the air pressure and see what feels and works best for me to. I ended up dropping it down from about 34 to 30 psi and I’ll see the difference in MPG . Can’t really tell a difference in comfort on the streets maybe a little softer. Might be a happy medium though on and off road as far as dirt roads with a tad of washboard lol. Thanks again I appreciate your help and advice
