Probably right, I just know from looking at it during winter that it has prevented some of the nasty road salt. That's also why I used fluid film also.

Agree 100% with this ^^^^^^^. My son turned 33 last November, where the f*** did the time go?? Kids grow up so fast anyway, don't wish time away, savor every day! Wish I could turn back the clock to car seat days!!

Very good post, I'm sure we all have something we could add. Concerning #1 of your list, I've experienced the same thing. I live on the coast and rust/corrosion is something we deal with all the time. I have "decorative" metal caps on my wheel valve stems and a great solution I've found to keep them from "welding" themselves to the stems is to put a little automotive assembly grease on the threads before installing the cap and it will always stay free. This trick is used frequently on many things I deal with/work on daily.

Right in the feels. I would give anything for my 3 teenagers to be 5, 7, and 8 again. It was so easy to interact with them and they were always so happy.

I don't post most of the stuff I do here because it is small and incremental.
Added a Ham Radio and did a real clean install on it. Antenna on a Rago Fab off the back drivers corner of the bed.
Added a dash cam - again clean install with no wires every where.
Removed and resealed the bed cover - been raining like a cow pissin' on a flat stone around Phoenix lately (rare for us) and it is mostly completely dry.
Put a 90 degree USB connector in the dash and Glovebox USB ports so I don't have a beefy USB plug getting in the way.
I run with a seat cover for dogs in the back seats because I want to limit the number of humans and it makes great interior storage.
    Hitch Shackle
    LED Light Strip
    Sticker Collection is growing.

I've got some glove box organization on the way.

Next stuff is bigger stuff but that makes it more of a wish list than anything. Some of it will happen, probably not much.
    BFG ATKO Tires
Wheels (mebbe) if I find a good deal. I just hate the stock TRD OR wheels. Other TRD are actually nice.
Window tint - Truck came with the back glass and rear doors tinted but not the driver and passenger front glass. F'ing communist states and their draconian tint laws are so stoopid because they become the lowest common denominator that things are built for. So in AZ where you can darken almost everything we get California and Colorado Tint from the dealer.
    Camper Shell
    Decked
    Front Bumper

I am looking at replacing the mudflaps. But I don't want those ridiculous $150 a set (truck needs 2 sets). Paying $300 for mud flaps isn't my jam - Rek can Get-Rek'd. Besides, you saw that a Ham Radio was the first thing I did so you know I'm cheap. I just want some rubber that hangs down about 2" maybe 3". Kind of a mini-mud flap. Thinking about these Tuff-Skinz and trimming them ==> https://www.tufskinz.com/collections/tacoma-2016/products/mud-flaps-toyota-tacoma

What is great about this community/forum is the help and ideas to customize our trucks and make them fit our needs. Reflecting on the last seven months of ownership... I was fortunate to buy a SR5 at a discount and customize it to my liking. I am still under the retail price so I am pleased with the decision so far. Not sure what is next, but someone will have the next idea for me. What remains for me are a lower priority... LED headlights to replace the new high output halogens bulbs in stock projector assembly, a slide box in the bed for tools/groceries so things don't fly to the front of the bed (I plan to fabricate something), upgraded speakers because these don't go to 11, and a driveline disconnect system for four-down towing (if we ever get a motorhome - wishful thinking).

Also it is interesting that, as of today, the 2024 SR5 2WD double cab 6' bed configuration can't be priced on the Toyota website. You can only see that with the TRD Sport and a jump of $8870 in price over the retail price of my 2023 SR5. Hoping for many years of reliable service from the 2023/V6/LB platform.
