I am guessing this is for when your diff gets warm to let the expanded air escape? Looks really well done for sure.

I'd use these (or other similar) foam blocks. They cover the horizontal rails and along with ratchet straps (or synch straps), will hold the kayak tightly to the rails. Should give you all the clearance you need for the antenna.

I finished running the pressure line to the pump. The suction line is next. I think that I will remove 1 of the 12v sockets in the picture and put a garden hose fitting there, and use scepter 6 gallon water cans with a leader hose.

Finally got around to sticking these mesh pockets on the fuzzy underside of the rear jump seats in my access cab... The velcro sticks really good! :)

Good thoughts. I wondered if for kayak or canoe transport the OEM roof rack could be paired with this:
    https://www.thule.com/en-us/winter-and-water-sports-carriers/kayak-roof-racks/thule-goalpost-_-9644

Might be a simple, interesting combination.

I am still looking at roof racks (now that recovery is covered). I have a post in another forum with a directory of racks available. Up to 17 options, I think.

When fording water that is over the axle, people say there is a chance that a hot diff can suck in air/ water when it touches the cool water.
I think it is mainly when the diff breather gets rusted and stuck open tho

Thanks for these pics! The OEM roof rack is definitely on my list. I wonder if something like this could be used or cut or tweaked to help in that situation:

Stop whining! :). You live in heaven! I am in NY but lived half my life in Quebec (family there).

This is not the place for politics but I will tell you a funny story. Was in Nova Scotia the Summer before Covid. Having pizza (strangely good pizza, too!). Guy from Calgary got into an argument with a guy from PEI. They were going back and forth -- Harper vs. Trudeau. Why are the Maritimes even in Canada. Why should CA be paying for Ontario. Why should Ontario be paying for BC mismanagement. It was getting pretty heated. I stay out of those kinds of conversations. Guy from Quebec walks in. Heard the argument. Then asks the server very loudly with a heavy French accent, "you guys have good baguettes?" Everyone looked at each other and just burst out laughing. We all had a good time after that.

    :)

In case it wasn’t answered by the time I keep getting caught up… can you explain the hinge convert thing? Any pictures of the damage caused by the scoop pooling?

itsbeen awhile since I checked on prices but how much were you all in on the smart passenger handle with key card? Did you get the key blank too

I'm sorry if someone already mentioned this - the antennas were moved forward in the 2020s as a partial solution to the leaking 3rd brake light. When they determined that the roof rack was not compatible with the new placement, the moved the antennas back to their original location beginning in early February 2020 production models. My January build is not compatible with the rack.

Must be the same Toyota Engineers who developed the spare tire mount that leaves creases in the sidewall.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/spare-tire-defect.403020

Still hasn't been rectified on the third gens.

Glad I found your post, I've been struggling with the blind spot since the install of my camper shell. What was the installation like? Any tips on installing and/or removing existing mirrors?

The door striker and limiter hinge cover is mainly just aesthetics. Lexus come standard with them. Just seems like a part that Toyota forgot to do themselves, so just finishing up.

I do grease them up under the covers, i guess for extra protection against corrosion.
I thought they were well worth their $10.

As for damage under the scoop, my paint has peel off right under the OE weather strip. Water and debris seeped under, dried up, acted as a weak glue, and pulled up the thin paint. Now there is some exposed metal...

I would usually cover it with touch up paint, but it is in an area where i can barely reach, I'm a short guy...

For the smart handle and card key, I got mine from McGeorge Toyota. $140 for the handle, and $200 for the key. I think you can get the key much cheaper used and have a locksmith unlock the key for $20. Oh got a blank key from Aliexpress for $5, Toyota had no problems cutting it for me.
