All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
The best upgrade that one can do!

Took delivery of a new 4Runner TRDOR Limited to be my daily driver and drift boat puller.

After a week of rubbing my calves when getting out of the thing I finally did what I should have done on day one...took off those stupid running boards.

Six bolts. 10 minutes. Much better

I did bates road trails in tillamook. Very interesting downhill sections - or uphill. That was a couple hours Saturday. Wednesday, I just went out to the browns camp area and tried the new Happymeal trail with the added irrigation sections.

I’m not a video making type guy. Not yet. Besides scratches, it wasn’t so bad.

The route I took seemed to be uphill on the shorter trails and then downhill on the two longer trails. One had a small log across it downhill so that was not a big deal.

Just sliding, I road the left side, got some scratches, and only dragged something twice.

That was the first black diamond ‘difficult’ rating I tried with this stock 4Runner off road. It’s a month old. Only ko2s 265 on it.

Afterwards, I was thinking what did I just do. During there was no way to stop so it was whatever happens will happen. I was sure I wouldn’t be trying that again. A couple days later, I think when it’s a bit drier, I will try one of the longer climbs. One I know it’s not possible most likely with my vehicle. But it surprises me each time it test it.

I do take photos of signs so I can remember where I go. Until I figure out how I can photo and get the real perspective, I’m not too concerned about photos (I know where I go, if I can remember).

the hills are always 10x than the look in videos. I’ll be trying to retrace offroadhub guy in this northwest area. When I get under armor, i will not worry about being stranded so much. Seems it takes months or get it though ...

this stock off road can to surprise things. I imagine if it’s modified. Apparently I can drive well so that helps. Not the emotional driver that freaks out during. Maybe nightmares after. Lol.

for anyone attempting in a stock vehicle, there are two highway entrances. Bates and a university something. If you start from bates, the trails in that order are easier, being downhill. There’s no way to get in a place stuck - like in between two impossible climbs.

it’s always just backing downhill if you’re climbing. And if you’re going down and change your mind, just endure.

yeah, after writing this, I’ll try it again kniwning a little more.

i also just realized I have zero photos of my truck. It’s stock. 4Runner off road premium if that matters. There are thousands of them. And it’s black with increasing pin stripes. Three weeks old. 3200 miles on it. Driving the hell out of it.

Nice thanks for sharing. Agreed the stock truck can go thru some challenging terrain. Tires, Air Pressure and picking lines are huge make the difference.
Good on you for testing the waters and yes scratches on a new truck suck, but they are also a reminder ;)

I traded in a very nice highlander limited platinum- for a 4Runner specifically to do trails (not maintained dirt roads) so kinda accepted it will get beat up. I’ll be putting on the 3m clear wrap on where ever I can to help , 2-3 layers. It will look weird but should help everything except impacts that dent or pierce.

yes, the list everyone has .. sliders, plates, maybe the small winch bumper that fits between the lower lights section. Then seeing lifts for 33s aren’t too much so that ... There the damn waiting of 2+ months for these fab places. So by that time, I’ll see the condition. Lol. I don’t really camp or car camp yet. I suppose it’s the start of the rabbit hole. I wonder if I had gotten a rubicon I’d probably have to do much less upgrades. I didn’t know though.

Not sure how well these will work, haven't seen many reviews of them, but the price was good. R1 Concept GEOMET Carbon Slotted front rotors, E-Line slotted Rear Rotors and Off-Road pads.

Got to deploy the awning for the first time -

The road farther ahead was closed still, so rather than just turn around, we decided to have a picnic.

Main reason why I got my roof rack was for an awning and my traction boards; worth it!

Got it ready for a smog test this week. Drained all the old gas. New oil and filter, New gas and filter, Air filter, and New spark plugs. I turned down the SAWs to 2 inches and put on the Trail Teams with BFGs Her ass is sagging...

Also put some Bose Speakers in the doors that I had sitting around. Why the hell did Toyota use 4" speakers in the back doors...

Just got it back from the tire shop. Ended up having to pay to have the suspension installed instead of DIY (2008 with RAS/XREAS, originally came from the northeast so everything was rusted together).

Thanks. I really like the light configuration with the Relentless bumper. Yellow pods are hybrid focus that I'm going to run on the factory fog light circuit, white pods are spots that'll be switched independently, plus the light bar. Thinking I might also mount a pair of multicolor/strobe pods on the hoop as well as mounting a spotting cam and my hi-lift.

Interesting that you say that you're 'upgrading'

How long did you have your Duro bumpstops?

I've had my front/rears on since October and love how soft they are.
