Is a 4runner a good vehicle ? This 2016 is still going strong after a Russian bomb attack in Kiev Ukraine. Yes a building collapsed on it.

It is. I’m the one who sent him the original dome light for the 2nd gen Tacoma so he could make it

Technically, I bought it yesterday, pls nobody tell the mods. 05 V8 AWD/4WD, 261K on the clock and nearly rust free. She's got a few issues but I suspect they'll be simple enough to address.638265972504953050.jpg

Honestly one of the best 4Runners. Did the 05's have the VVTI 4.7?

Yes they did. 03-04 were non-vvti. 05 was vvti with the 03-04 front end still.

I thought the 05's had the VVTI, but couldn't remember. I'm not super knowledgeable on the 4th gens, but I would take a V8 4th in a heart beat.

It does. I feel like I hit a small jackpot with this thing. It needs tires and probably new cats, but that's about it.

I seriously considered it, but I'm aiming to have an error light free dash and I think the easiest path there is just to make the few repairs it needs.

I cannot argue against that. I hate error lights

Ok so I installed the rear ladder. Looks awesome. The rear hatch konks me on the f@cking head every time I open it because of the extra weight. Nobody said hey when you put the ladder on the rear hatch will hit you on the head everytime. FML. Who makes the heavy duty shocks?

    Try these - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007RVR1MA

Saw in several threads when I was looking into replacements that these have worked well for people with ladders. I don't have a ladder but do have some additional weight on the liftgate with molle panels. They are working well for me since installing them.

Crawled under the T4R to figure out what might be causing my suspension rumble. Obvious stuff that needs replaced: sway bar links front and rear, and UCA ball joints. The shocks are Toyota branded and appear old AF. I I think the rumble is one of those bits, and given that I want to replace all of them at some point to support 885/895's and OME nitrochargers, it's all looking good. Shopping list is stiff Nitrocharger shocks, 3g rear sway bar links that are a bit longer, stock replacement front links and a sway bar drop kit (unless y'all know of a factory style ball joint front sway bar link that's not $100+) and a ball joint style upgraded UCA, probably light racing.

When you do the rest of the suspension, try leaving the front sway bar off the truck for a while and see how you like it. New shocks and springs will make up the difference of no sway bar in front. Leave the rear in place with new links. Just a suggestion. I run without front or rear sway bars but I am used to it and have a suspension to support doing that.
