Good shot of showing why the 2pc driveshaft is good for clearance.

No way I'd feel comfortable driving this truck at 100+ miles per hour, limiter or not.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

I used that thread to decide which bolts to use. And used the best ones tested when I installed the TC LBJs.

3 of the 4 bolts broke. One of the bolts hung on but was bent to shit. (The reason my tire didn't flop all the way out). This was not a situation where one of them backed out and then caused the others to break. The LBJ bolts are some of the few bolts I actually RELIGOUSLY follow the torque spec (with blue loc-tite). I can't really even come up with an explanation that makes any sense on how it would have happened. I didn't take any hard hits, it was a relatively normal wheeling trip. I was going about (literally) 2mph, in shallow sand, when they let go.

For the record, I'm absolutely not saying the @TotalChaos LBJs were the fault. They absolutely were not. It was 100% the bolts that failed. And if memory serves correct, TC doesn't even provide bolts with the LBJs. I may be wrong about that, but I used bolts ordered specifically based on the observations of the thread mentioned above.

But the point I made earlier is that the TC LBJs DO NOT "solve" the problems. Because the vast amount of LBJ failures, I've seen, have been the bolts. The TC LBJs do absolutely nothing to address that part of the problem.

That sucks. I always have anxiety about those bolts for the same reason on what happened to you...
One thing worth noting though is that loctite changes the torque spec for fasteners. Not saying that's why it failed in your case, but the wet torque is different than dry torque. I use blue loctite on mine as well and have been fine thus far, but do plan to swap out to one of the stronger fasteners mentioned in that thread.

My TC Uniball LBJs came with the 4 bolts to attach the spindle. Matter of fact, they were 2 different lengths, for the inner and outmost.

We couldn't get the bolts back out of the blind holes (nearest wheel). So we had to do this, to limp off the trail to where we could get a tow.

Now that I have sacrificial spindles to work with, I'm considering seeing how drilling and tapping the blind holes to M12x1.25 would work. The blind holes are the ones with the locators in them on the LBJ, so those holes are already, basically, halfway drilled to M12 diameter anyway (then with the locator sleaves pressed into them.)

I had a zip lock with 8 brand new LBJ bolts in my kit. It may have been the ones that came with the LBJs.

I installed some 6112/5160’s. I need to put some more miles on them to really tell, but it felt more solid and there was less body roll, which was a nice change. My suspension was pretty tired. I need to change out, or get my leaf packs rebuilt next.

Big shoutout to @memario1214 with http://hotshotoffroad.com/. Shipping was same day on the 5160’s and his communication was great.

I was thinking about that last night since the bolts were a common fail point glad to see you looking into bigger hardware so I can watch  definitely keep me posted on the progress and I'm glad that at least one bolt was hanging on for dear life. I had a buddy trying to tell me to get the chaos BJ and I tried to tell him the joint wasn't my concern and he wasn't understanding why so thanks for being a perfect case study haha

The tank tuck was a GAME CHANGER for me, for sure. @eimkeith kit is good stuff!

(And on the subject of drivelines... I'd agree that picture is a perfect representation of why a single piece DL is NOT a good idea. I would have been through about 10 drivelines, by now, if not for the 2 piece design.)

Just ordered 16 of the black bolts with washers PN 90119-10933
I have reused the previous black bolts I ordered a couple times now since I had to take it apart twice for my passenger dif seal so I might as well replace them before Trail Hero starts in a couple weeks

I also ordered a new steering rack. Larry Miller Toyota has it listed at $570 with a 30% discount and they even added free shipping on the rack so might as well get the hardware shipped at the same time.
