Yeah. We ripped an 1/8th plate piece that runs behind the bed rail sheet metal.

There's 14 bolts holding it in place (if you include the 6 for the three feet of the bed rack)

If you were to reinforce it with a backing plate like that, you could use Quick Fists to secure your hi lift jack.

I used three to mount Jon's (mine?) Hi Lift jack to the bed rack and the thing didn't even budge when I was yanking on it.

    Thanks man.

    Here's the edit you missed:

Now I need opinions. To cut or not to cut? I'd like for the grid not to be there but it pains me to cut it too lol

I plan on making something to block out the "bleeding" light so only the emblem lights up. It actually looks a lot cooler in person, the picture doesn't do it justice lol

    That's unique.

Are you talking about cutting the mesh out from behind the emblem? If so, that's the way to go IMO

    Soft compound. Don't last long.

    A block?

Get an AAL at least. Blocks will case axle warp ad premature leaf wear.

    Dig it man!

Shame your topper windows are sliders. It would be perfect if the sides opened outwards. Then you could access the hi lift and shovel and axe easily with the topper on.

All your doing is making stock wore out leaf springs worse, just get an aal, only a few bucks more and a much better solution (for now) still a bandaid fix for lift... to do it right and really the only way to do it to save time from having to do it later is a full new set of leaf springs

Windoors would be cool. I plan on wheeling without the topper though, that was the whole purpose of the bed rack. Cut down on weight.

I mean I get the functional aspect of the topper but personally I think your truck looks more badass with that rack. You got a nice rack man.

Lost of good info in there if you have access to common hand tools!

Other option if you can weld or have access to a welder is to do the infamous chevy 63" spring swap which requires moving your front spring hanger forward.

All up to you, just do a load of research before you commit to anything!

Gotcha. Idk if it'll save any weight but thought that counts.

Topper is nice in winter. I go snowboarding (skiing for my girl) a lot and it's nice to have the mostly weather proof space with a locking rear hatch.

My topper weighs around 100 lbs or so I'm guessing.

The rack weighs about 45 or 50 :notsure:

I dunno, it may turn out that all my shit bakes in the brutal sun without the topper on when I'm running trails and this whole endeavor backfires.

Well I mean gotta account for the extra stuff it's going to hold and stuff.

    So I doubt 40-50lbs.

Thanks! Yeah I mean the mesh behind it. I was going to cut out just enough so it wouldn't show through the middle.

I got mine from AutoAnything.com http://www.autoanything.com/billet-grilles/61A6740A0A0.aspx You might have to put in your vehicle type to get the Taco ones to come up. It's $158.12 then I googled a coupon code and got it for $142.31.

The other one is about $7 cheaper but the Auto Anything site looks a bit more reliable IMO

Yea AutoAnything is probably more reliable off the bat. I had no problems dealing with Luke at TruckAlterations, but then again I've heard a couple others have some issues with his service. :notsure:

Either way, I'm glad I got it :D
