I don't remember it being that way and it's been discussed in here before. But if it works for you go ahead. I am a big supporter of using factory hardware due to past experience. :)

a 9/16" bolt and nut is pretty rare. You won't find that at the local hardware store. Might as well go factory at this point.

FYI: Trailer spring bolts are 9/16". You can find them at Tractor Supply, but they are $10 for 2. What do these cost from dealer?

$6.00 or $7.00 each. And you have to reuse the nut from the old one. Fortunately the nut doesn't seize, just the bolt.

    Cool.

I would not have an issue using the TSC bolts. I use them often and have never had one break.

You can order grease able bolts from Etrailer if anyone is interested. I haven't looked at their prices in a while so no idea what they cost.

I bet the dealer can get the nut, the local one here didn't have any but didn't say they were unobtainable.

Tried that, didn't attempt it much because I didn't have a replacement bolt so I couldn't get it done to be drive able on Monday

Damn@ Ha yeah I think we needed more leverage too, didn't have a pipe or anything. I've got a week off next week and I'll give it hell all week

I'm guessing the one by the gas tank. Mine was seized too.

Figured that one was harder so I attempted that. Rather not have gotten the passenger side one and then gotten to the driver side and it not work. Then having Dakars on the passenger and my current ones on the driver. Would ride/look kinda funky :bananadead:

Impact wrench and a metric fuck ton of heat. Or just a metric fuck ton of heat and a lot of leverage. Also soak the shit out of it with the ATF/Acetone mix. For days if you can.

Fawk yes! I used a Nalgene water bottle, but removed it shortly after because of a bad seal. I'm rolling around without a reservoir like Monte :anonymous:

Bad seal using the old grommets or did you seal it with like a plastic glue or something of that sort? I put waterproof grease on the rubber to liven them up a bit. Gonna keep an eye on it and see how it holds up.

My issues was that the pump was unsupported leading into the bottle. Once the glue setup it wasn't enough to keep the pump from moving around and breaking the seal.

That was a fear I had, so when I put the zip tie on I wrapped it around the pump to hold it against the bottle. But I think the rubber grommets let me have a little more flexibility too. Any reason you didn't re-use the rubber from the original res? Seems like most people don't for some reason.

EDIT: Just saw you used a zip tie too :anonymous:

Yeah, I zip tied as well. I didn't use the grommets because the reservoir got tossed before I could get it from the shop I left it at. I did a pretty poor job on it initially. It's one of those mods on my list that I need go back back to... Pretty far down on the list now
