I feel you on the rock chips. My generals have put a couple small dents in the trailer. There is a mud flap setup that bolts to the draw bar but it looks wack lol

Drove from Phoenix to Flagstaff over the weekend. 16 TRD Sport. We are towing a CTS192RD. Dry weighs about 4,300. We have had the Tacoma for a year and a half, but this was the first time we have towed the trailer. I was skeptical of the Tacoma, but it actually did pretty good.

The new tires did great. No problems. Handled great. Glad got these instead of the Carlisle I was considering.

I got to crawl under the slide out while it was in because it wouldn't open Friday night. I checked the fuse and the switch but they were both good so I was going to try to jump the wires at the motor to confirm it was working. When I took the wire nut off the ground it had some corrosion so I cleaned it up and boom, it was working as it should.

I think I'm going to replace those wirenuts with the outdoor nuts that have a wax seal to try and keep the moisture out of them.

It looks like your sitting a little high on the front of the trailer. You want to be level or just a touch down on the trailer but never higher. When you brake hard the trailer will want to lift the rear of the truck which will cause a loss of traction on the rear wheels.

That was taken the day we brought it home, and I only had a 4" drop hitch with. I did end up getting a longer drop hitch though to get it closer to level, but I do think I better get a wd hitch.

I'm using a Equalizer WD hitch with a 3500lbs single axle TT and the ride is so much better.

Glad to hear it helps with a lighter trailer, that's pretty much exactly what mine weighs loaded up. Which hitch did you go with?

I went with the Equalizer WD hitch. https://www.equalizerhitch.com/how-equalizer-works

If you decide on the hitch get the plastic friction pads that go between the torsion arms and bracket. It's an accessory to quiet the hitch when turning in tight turns.

Did you get the front cam installed yet? Have a pic of the view it provides if so?

So we uograded to timbren 5200lb timbren Axle less suspension and 235 85r16 load range E Falken AT3 tires. It's only about an inch higher than it was with the previous suspension tire combo and has far as we can tell no rubbing. There is way more ground clearance with no axle and preliminary parking lot curb bashing shows the ride to be much smoother.
Of course my favorite part is how much better it tows with the load range E tires. It's basically feels like I just lost 2 flat tires behind us. Very Very Very happy with this.
I'll add some better pics and more performance related updates soon.
    Until then...

Also had 12500lb Bull Dog Collar lock coupler welded on. It has 15 degree improvement in rotation and is probably the the strongest trailer to truck connection.
And added a bull dog trailer jack to make lifting the rear of the truck up easier for the new WDH chain hangers. Also got rid of the fast way flip jack which was dangerous when parked on hills:eek:
And lastely 5000lb 30" travel stabilizer jacks on all four corners which means no more stacking blocks when parking on uneven terrain.

Im really pleased! I hate not working on my own stuff but im not that good of a welder so I had to leave it to the pros. It was pretty much a nail biter for me waiting to see it. I asked them to fit tires with no excessive lift and inwas really pleased/worried when I saw it. The tires looked stuffed but after having my fiance take it over a couple curbs at speed while watched outside I was satisfied lol

20170311_123939.jpg charged the battery. Need to pop it and get it cleaned and stocked. But I've gotta go out of town for work next couple weeks. These are pics from last year's maiden voyage. Best 500.00 I've ever spent.

I've also been looking at lifts for trailers. Etrailer has a decent kit for under a 100 and I could run bigger wheels and tires. But then I'd need to add brakes..always something I guess..

If I were to do it again Id probably have stuck with the spring over and used progressive bump stops and decent shock absorber. I'm having some issues with Timbren right now.... Basically their springs have no ability to hold their rated weight and their customer service blows but I'll give more details later when I get back home :p

I've got a torsion axle, so it's new to me. It tows great as is and really I just take it to campgrounds. So it's not a huge priority to mod it. But it gives some options . Did you buy your timbrens thru etrailer? They back they're stuff pretty good.

Took me a few years, but when he posted it on Craigslist I was the first to call. Got there and checked it out. It was in good shape. Didn't haggle and handed him cash.
