Hi all, I have a 2000 Tacoma V6 and my temp gauge has always read slightly above normal since I got it 2 years ago. I recently hooked up a scan gauge and the temp reads about 195 - 200 after a 5 minute drive (no A/C and outside temp 80 degrees). A friend of mine thinks that is about ten degrees too high. What do you all think? (I searched, but didn't find any info on normal temps) :)

Your friend is probably confusing thermostat opening temperature with overall coolant temperature. A 2000 5VZ thermostat is supposed to open in the range of 176 - 183 degrees F.

Engine coolant temperatures will typically range up to 10 degrees or more higher than the thermostat opening temperature.
