Not really true for all offoad situations but the longer wheel base could make you more susceptible to high centering. That said DC longbeds are still very trail capable and track better on the highway due to the longer wheelbase. If you're really worried about wheel base length on the trail buy a Jeep instead.

If your life revolves around more than two people, get a doublecab.

Owned both a DCSB and a regular cab 1st gen and wished either the cab or the bed was bigger. Now that I have a DCLB I've never felt the truck was too long or had too much space.

I don't have crotchfruit and never will, and I don't like being a taxi.. so I don't need a large backseat. AC is lighter, cheaper, has a full box and looks better (last one is opinion). Literally the only benefit of a double cab is hauling people, which I really don't think is the reason to get a truck.

FWIW ... always had R/C's & D/C's IIRC ... and now an AC is best for me .... BUT ... I do miss that door post (for maybe safety in a "T-Bone" accident.

If I go without being "T-Boned" .... the the suicide rear doors on the AC are fantastic.

Just food for thought ...

Sure the the DC might be handy sometimes, but I'm single and simply don't need the extra cab space, so I didn't spend the extra money for the bigger cab. Plus I've got the longer beg without the extra length. Also it fits in my garage.

Limited wheels, extra rope hooks in bed.
I like the full sized bed on my Access Cab...Part of the reason for me buying a truck too...

In the rare event the wife and I need to haul someone else there are still seats in the back, however small. They work for shorter trips...

My dogs never rode in the cab of any truck I've had....They always prefer the openness of the bed.....Always!

If someone is worried their dogs will jump out they made an adjustable leash that hooks to both sides of the bed so you can keep them from getting too close to the sides....But they LOVE hanging their heads out in the wind!

AC is perfect for me because I needed the long bed more than a DC back seat space, plus a little cheaper than a DC to meet all my needs. Not interested in a DCLB, too long for my taste.

4 doors with handles and nothing resembling a saturn ion quad-coupe.

    (should have clarified)

So even though most trucks come with that kind of door option, you associate it with a Saturn ion? lol

    nothing cool
Two kids in the backseat. And my youngest is still rear facing. I needed the DC. Wife has a minivan which we use the most. But I still need room for both when I have them on my days off.

You gotta have a D/C with a family & kids ... or if you give "many people" lots of rides ... or if you Uber (IIRC, Uber requires 4 doors) ... :)

Now, with my A/C, we take other people's vehicles to do stuff and I am NOT the driver ... and mine is now considered a "truck sports's car" with NO back seat ... I love it ... :)

Had a 1st gen DC and I became a taxi driver. Hardly ever did I haul people. I have 2 small dogs and a significant other

Ordered a 3rd gen AC. Less likely to become a taxi driver. Won't be needing to haul people as much. Dont plan on having kids. The 2 dogs and significant other will be just fine.

i have a bunch, the big one is an Orion XT12i 12" dobson. also in that load in the big yellow case that you can barely see is a pair of 100mm apochromat binoculars... my eyepieces are in the small yellow case.

I dabbled in astrophotography for the better part of a year, and went back to visual. the photo thing was a whole lot of work, while visual is instant gratification, and I do this for fun, not for work.
