    http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/wash+mop+stick+kit.do Not too bad.

Who would've thought boar's hair would be so expensive? They look nice, but damn they're pricey. I hope these things last a long time for those kind of prices.

Mine is 10 years old. Buy quality items and they last. I make sure I rinse in out thoroughly after each wash. Granted I can only use it May-November here in Maine, but it's as good now as when I bought it. In fact, a very reputable auto detailer here recommended this to me years ago. I do use two buckets when washing....one for the clean soapy water and another for rinsing the brush after washing a section.

I have no problem paying for quality. I think this is my favorite post so far. Thanks.

I would not consider using any kind of pole, extension handle, or anything like that. To me, too high a risk of knocking up against the corner of the roof while washing. For me... besides my normal routine of two bucket wash with grit guards, a quality auto shampoo (I use Griot's) and a microfiber wash pad, I'm going to use a step stool to get to the center of the roof.

To each their own. I'm short. Ive been using pole brushes for more than 20 years on ambulances and fire trucks. Those were always company supplied equipment (usually crappy), but I know how to use it well. Thanks.

I don't recall ever causing any damage to any vehicle with the pole attached to a brush while washing. I take my time and am relatively careful. I use an old fashioned/old school wooden pole.

Agreed. You'd have to swing it deliberately to cause damage IMO.

I hate it when it slips out of your hands and goes directly through the windshield and out the driver's side window. These poles are crazy... just absolutely crazy :D

I'm more OCD than any ten people you know so the thought of even hitting the corner of the roof with a pole or extension rod would make me break out in hives. Me, I'll go with the two-step ladder and my arm, thanks.

I suppose you spend the entire day cleaning your truck then. Black paint and OCD don't go over well

I can appreciate that. I'm pretty OCD about a lot of things. Use of a pole isn't one of them.

I prefer dark paints... I want to see the scratches and swirls, orange peeling, fish-eyes, etc. I want to set them so I can fix them. I don't have a r/o porter cable buffer and a dozen polishes just to see them sitting on the shelf. And I actually enjoy detailing cars so I love dark paints to show off my work. It's a labor of love for me. Black paint is PERFECT in my world.

Well if you enjoy it, keep on man! I usually wash and wax twice a year. The only downside to black IMO is that it shows everything... even after a wash. The time it takes to clean up a black vehicle is a major pain in the ass. If you have lots of time, it wouldn't be that bad. I just hate having to spend half the evening for a wash when I could be modding the truck some more. :annoyed:

I can appreciate that... we're all at different places in our lives. My youngest is now in the Air Force and stationed overseas... I have no kids at home so I have lots of time to dedicate to my vehicle. In fact, I have to avoid the temptation to quick detail it every single day just to remove a tiny later of dust because QDing every day is going to cause me to break out the polish and buffer too often.

You may want to look to upgrade your PC. Especially if it's an older model. The shaft on mine broke a year ago. Luckily, I was polishing a headlight at the time. Put a nice scratch in the lens. Good enough reason to go get a Flex.

I've only had one minor issue with mine, easy fix. And I'm so used to it and get great results with it. But yeah, I'm due for a new one pretty soon. I've had this one for about six years. Thanks for the advice. :)

Three photos of my black MINI...yes, you see another MINI in the reflection in the second photo. This is why I love black paint so much.

The failures happened with the older PC7424 models. I have probably had mine at least 6 to 8 years. You can replace the shaft but I haven't yet. The Flex is so much better. I want to fix the PC for wax applications.
