Brand new Tacoma Pro with Entune Premium (non JBL due to MT).

Experiencing frequent reboots of entune during Bluetooth calls or voice to text via Siri. iPhone XS Max latest software from apple.

Below are my current software details, can anyone tell me if this is the most recent or not? I checked the Toyota downloads page and grabbed the file for 2018 Tacoma w Nav: 13TDANNA-DA11_0146.kwi

I put it on a freshly formatted 16gb drive but my headunit doesn’t recognize it as an update. So either I did something wrong or maybe the version I have installed is already newer?

If anyone can help I’d be super appreciative. I can go to the dealer but I’d rather not waste my time.

Toyota doesn't list any updates for the 2019 Tacoma on their site, so I assume your truck has the latest version installed, which is why it doesn't allow you to flash the 2018 file.

The jump drive should also be formatted as FAT 16/32, or it won't be read properly.

According to this post, my firmware (01019A) is from 2016: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/headunit-reboot-issue.549234/#post-17837722

I'm guessing Toyota has a factory full of these headunits produced years ago and they just toss them in new cars, just because my truck is a 2019 doesn't mean it has been updated since it was manufactured years ago... I'll try a new flash drive.

I agree. The last version shown for the 2018s is 010192. My guess is that 01019A is newer. They went to an alpha when they ran out of numbers?

I updated mine with 010192, which was shown to be September 2017 release.

Good info, but I am wondering if those headings are in error? I think the Plus and Premium got flip flopped? You and I should have Premium.

    upload_2019-2-13_13-45-46.jpg

    From the Download site:

"Your Toyota Vehicle has an available multimedia software update:
Entune Audio (version 01014B 013A4C), Entune Audio Plus (version 01016E 01016F), Entune Premium Audio (010192)"

Like you and @ShirtTucker said, give it another go while double checking the formatting.

Just tried with a new flash drive, definitely FAT32, empty other than the kwi file, no luck.

That sucks. There were about three OTA updates on mine before I tried the USB flash. It definitely improved issues for me.

Hopefully they launch an update for you soon.

Found this info from Toyota too:

This selection will be "grayed out" if the software on the USB flash drive is the same as or older version than what's already on the Multimedia system. If this happens, there is no need to update the Multimedia system.
Note: All "Audio" software versions begin with "0101". The last 2 digits change to higher numbers with newer versions. Letters are "newer" than numbers. i.e. 0101A1 is newer than 010195.

So who knows which version is actually newer. I guess I'm going to the dealer to sort this out.

Ha! That is what I thought.

Be careful with the dealer. On another brand car that we had HU problems with in the first couple months, they replaced it with a refurb unit. It worked just fine and I didn't discover it for years, but new is new, right?

I was just saying that I would expect a new HU if they need to replace it. Not a refurb.

On the one that we had replaced, it was labeled as a refurb unit. I can't remember where the labels are on the Entune ones, but the trim is held on with clips and just pulls off. Then, it is just four 10mm screws holding it in.

If the dealer thinks it should be replaced, I would just verify with them that it is a new part. My bet, though, is that they will have to come back once there is an update.

Here is mine. The last update was done over the air via the Entune app. when they removed Pandora:

Having worked at a Toyota plant for over 15 years there is no way they have a stock of head units laying around. Look up lean manufacturing and just in time(jit) delivery these are Toyota's philosophy and one of the main parts of the Toyota production system that most manufacturing facilities utilize, and used by all Toyota plants. Now maybe the software updates are done at the plant before the vehicle ships out and yours was missed, and all have 2016 software shipped from manufacturer.

OK - this is interesting! I have a (EDIT: 2017) Entune Audio Plus, and according to the chart, latest version for that head unit should be either 01012C or 01019A. But after a dealer visit to try to fix an issue where after activating Siri I don't get any album or artist info back on an HD channel, it now shows I have 010179 - which according to the chart is for the Entune AUDIO!! Can I get the link to that chart so if I need to take it to the dealer to show?

Does anyone know where I can get the update for our head units I am on the older 010192 and was told that 0101A1 would fix syncing issues with my phone.
