Going against convention here a little, I had a '92 Camaro RS with 3.1L V6 throughout college that was virtually unstoppable. BUT, I took good care of it, I only found out after I sold it to a 16 yr kid that lived down the road years later how reliable it was. It was in beautiful shape, hardly any rust, and repainted it a year or two before I sold it. I had it for about 6 years.

When I sold it, I told the kid to call me if he had any problems with the car (sort of a short term warranty). So he calls me not too long after and says the engine had been overheating for a day or so, it was "making clicking noises", and the oil pressure light was on. He brought it over, I couldnt even touch the dipstick it was so hot. Grabbed a rag, pulled the dipstick, found zero oil in the engine (clicking was the hydraulic tappets with no pressure). It turns out that the oil plug had loosened when he backed out of someones driveway and scraped the underside the day before. Poured a couple of quarts of leftover oil I had in the shed into it and he took it home. Amazingly, the engine kept running with seemingly no issues.

Six months later he drove it through standing water on the side of the road, floated the whole car like a boat into a storm water ditch, and hydrolocked the engine. Pulled the plugs, turned it over, changed the oil, engine started and ran, rough at first, then got smoother after a couple more days. He drove it another year after that, beating the crap out of it the whole time. Lost track of it after that.

I wish I had never sold that car. :pout:

This is a funny thread, I would argue some of the cars mentioned, and that makes me think...

I wonder how we all share the view of "reliable" I see a lot of us had to replace a few parts understandably, But is reliability the lack of parts being replaced or is it putting up with a lot of shit as the driver (shakes, rattles, clunks ect.) as parts are on their last threads!!!

that damn onion again.... do not take care of your car since big brother one day will tell us it is too old to be driven anymore...

interior rules everything around us :)

    +1 for legal pot!

1999 Tacoma extended cab i4 manual 5 lug, gave it to my son at 220,000 miles. 2nd best would be 1988 Honda crx no issues and got 40mpg @ 150,000 miles.

    Mine was a 1979 Datsun 280Z.
That car was SOOOO hard to kill. I even drowned it once, didn't run right for a couple weeks then came back around! I beat it super hard and sold it for $900 with 250K on her, everything "kinda" worked. Nothing but love for old brown Z car, bullet proof.

2003 Tundra. My first new truck. It's gone 230,000 miles. Repairs amount to one brake cable in the drum, one frozen brake caliper, and one ADD actuator. All else has been maintenance. Still have it as my DD

I still own a 2003 and she has 130,000 on her.
I have replaced the AC blower motor, the climate control knobs at least 3 times, the plastic interior above head light covers, all 4 O2 sensors (2 went bad, replaced the other 2 just because they were next) and the half window latches, both sides. Zero major repairs minus the constant and well documented brake issues plus scheduled maintenance.

I agree with you, very reliable vehicle.

I had Dodge 225 slant 6 work van. That was a great motor. The only problem I ever had was moisture from condensation in the distributor cap would cause a miss and I'd have to dry it out. Did you ever have that problem ? I kept it til the body rusted out.

1990 toy truck didn't have a problem. '67 VW Kombi, '68 VW Kombi, no problems, '65 Mercedes 220S no problems, '68 Mercedes 280S no problems, '00 Mercedes S500 electrical problems, '00 Lexus GS300 fuel problems. I didn't mind the Lexus GS300 TPS problems since it was the last straight six built. I love straight six 3 litre motors. They have a roar to them a V6 can't replicate.

1989 Toyota Corolla v4 4-sp trany. Had 220K when we traded it in for wife's current Lexus ES350. Corolla had original clutch and got over 30mpg. Only replaced starter and turn signal switch.

1998 Toyota Sienna. Gave to my parents at about 200K. Has 250K and still running. Replaced radiator and a CVC joint, and burns a qt of oil every 5K but still running strong.

My most reliable vehicle was a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder. In 10 years and over 133k, just basic maintenance, tires, brakes, wiper blades, filters, batteries and gas. That is literally it. I miss that truck!

2009 Ford F150 5.4L. It started to click and rough idle at 150,000 km. A shop hand told us to try running 5w-40 synthetic in it (it had lighter synthetic for it's entire life). The rough idle and clicking stopped with the new oil. The truck is sitting at work with over 350,000 km of tough field work on it and the only thing that has went on it was one rear shock.

    I can second that. I've owned 3 90-93 accords.

1st one had 380,000k when we DROVE it to the salvage yard, body was too shot to keep around.

2nd was an auto that I got for a couple hundred bucks with 230k. Guy said the tranny was going, but otherwise it was mint. Drove it till 265k with no maintenance and sold it for #$2,000

3rd, which I still own, I got from the original owner with 95k in 2010. It's an ex with power everything. It is still my daily/work beater and has 210k. All I've replaced in 5 years was an alternator, battery, brakes, ignition switch. Everything still works including the power sunroof, cruise, and ice cold AC which blows better than my taco.

so far, URD throwout bearing kit(sleeve), weathertechs, 285/70/17's on Ion 17x9 and OME 885s and Dakars and nitro sports. BHLM
Mine would have to be my old 94 extra cab v6 5 speed 4x4. It made it through 303,848 of pure teenage hell and lots of girl chasin, and offroad trips. Would still be going if it hadn't got t boned and rolled twice.
So far my worst would either be my current 05 taco or 78 cj7. My taco has never let me down but it seems like I have to work on it a lot.
