What is this

Not sure what this is or its function. Please help.

 

LSPV = load sensing proportioning valve

It adjusts pressure to your rear brakes depending on how much of a load you have in the bed.

 

That is a sign that you need to assess and mitigate rust, in the form of a failed LSPV arm.

 

It’s broken is what it is, and it’s not going to do whatever it’s supposed to be doing. But in trying to be helpful I’ll say out of the three 1st gens I’ve had, none of them have that intact

 

Replaced that LSPV.

 

I have always wondered, is it just Toyota or do other manufacturers have that also?
I had a 85 Toyota truck that had it and I assume all Yota trucks have it?

 

I would guess other trucks have it as well, seems like you’d want some sort of control over your rear braking power if you got the bed all loaded up with stuff

 

Cut the rod close to the valve on the frame and zip tie it up for the most braking bias. Those valves suck anyways.
