I’ve got about 220k on my 1GR-FE and like to change my oil every 6000.

I purchase filters from a local Toyota dealership and buy the 5Q/1G jugs of M1 full synthetic at Walmart. You just can’t buy oil anywhere else for cheaper. I think they usually run about $25 a pop and I alternate between high mileage and regular. It’s great that exactly what the engine calls for after a nice drain.

I also like to pour a can or half a can of seafoam In a few hundred miles before I plan on changing the oil.

I don’t waste my money on seafoam just to have a smokeshow for fun.

Mobil1 full synthetic (not high mileage) 5W30 5qt jugs mixed with a case of individual quarts to make up the half liter to fill.
    OEM filter.

Change every 5-6k. Blackstone analyses each change which they keep telling me I can run the oil to 10k because it still has good numbers, but since I’m supercharged and run it hard occasionally and drive it 1-2 times a month I want to track how the internals are doing.

I have zero oil consumption. Only 95k miles.

if you put the seafoam in the crankcase it doesn’t smoke. It just helps remove sludge and other deposits that drain with the oil.

I’ve never put it in the intake. I feel having port fuel injection and using quality gasoline is all that’s needed.

Fram filter from Walmart. I used Mobil 1 for the 1st 200,000 miles but figure it's a waste of money. I buy my oil now from Costco. A box contains two 5 qt jugs. Price used to be $25 but it's up to $38 now. But that's still under $18 for an oil change.

For the 1st 9 years and 180,000 miles I did 10,000 mile oil changes which worked out to about every 6 months.. The last 70,000 miles have been as a 3rd vehicle and I'm driving less than 10,000 miles/year now so I now change every 6 months and don't consider miles.

Truck is over 250,000 miles now. It is usually about 1/2 qt low when I change the oil. In 17 years I've never added oil between changes.

Whatever synthetic oil. $5 dealer filter. Every 5k.

I don’t use seafoam. Because seafoam is shit.
I don’t flush before every oil change. This is unnecessary, excessive, and may even cause harm. It is wasteful and does not need it.

Why alternate between high mileage and regular?
And as far as sea foam , I have never put it in any of the numerous cars I’ve owned. I personally don’t see the point. But if it does something for you, go for it.

Every 6k. Don’t waste my money on seafoam or Blackstone. Change oil, drive and enjoy repeat till 500k. Pretty simple.

I get the 6-qt 5/30 Havoline syn oil that comes in a box (at Walmart). I put in all 6 qts and don't worry about the half qt fill. I also use the larger oil filters, like Wix 51068 or 51085. Change oil every 7K-8K. No Seafoam for me. I put a large bottle of Techron about every other oil change.

Full Syn Oil at Costco, Kirkland or M1 depending on price. Toyota OEM filters, bought bulk on Amazon. Every time the light comes on, or the first decent Saturday thereafter, so between 5k or 6.5K depending on what's going on. Fumoto valve since day one (second Tacoma so equipped). Love the filter up top. As good a reason as any to keep this truck going....oil changes are too easy!

164K and never burn a drop.

Forgive me to piggyback on your thread (lol). I also have the 1GR-FE engine...I goofed and put in 5w-20 instead of the 5w-30. I don't tow heavy loads or drive at higher speeds...is there any real harm or should I replace asap???

I always change oil at 5000 miles.

Every 5K: I change the 5W-30 synthetic oil and 90915-YZZD3 OEM filter (buy both at Walmart), I rotate the four tires, and I inject grease into the 5 Zerk fittings on the driveshafts until grease comes out of each bearing.

The engine never runs low on oil between changes, and does not burn any oil. Currently at 134K miles.

Dealership put 0w20 in my truck quite a few changes ago. Its fine. Just run 5k and change it back.

I have 3qts of 10w30 and 3qts of 0W20 i am going to use up on my next change. I don't know if I am being cheap or just trying to clean out my garage.

I recycle my oil from my truck through my lawn mower. It’s like solving 2 problems with one solution.

2012 Tacoma 4.0. Bought it with 129,000km (80,000 miles). I use 10w30 conventional oil and Toyota oem filter. Every 5,000kms (3,100 miles) because during the first bunch of oil changes the old oil came out dirtier than l thought it should be.
I had no information on the maintenance routine of the Tacoma, prior to me taking ownership.
The old oil appearance has improved immensely over the last 70,000kms (43,000miles) of the quicker oil changes.

I just had to add to this oil thread!!:D:thumbsup:
