    What?

We are arguing that saving $30-40 every 3-5 years actually makes it ok that the coolant might not be compatible with your $multi-thousand vehicle, and it may not last as long as the OEM coolant. Seriously? Just use the Toyota stuff and move on.

Just looking to buy some of this (“Toyota Super Long Life Coolant”) to keep on hand to do top offs.

Note the following from the "Toyota 2015 Tacoma Warranty and Maintenance Guide":

In the schedule section, coolant is to be changed at 100,000 miles or 120 months. There is a caveat on this at the end of the book on page 71 of the maintenance log:

Your Toyota is equipped with Genuine Toyota Super Long-Life Coolant. The replacement intervals for engine coolant recommended in this booklet are based on replacement with Genuine Toyota Super Long-Life Coolant or similar high-quality non-silicate, non-amine, non-borate ethylene-glycol coolant with long-life hybrid organic acid technology (i.e., a combination of low phosphates and organic acids). If another type of ethylene-glycol coolant is used, replacement intervals may be different.

I'm probably going to bite the bullet on this one and get a gallon of the factory item (and keep the receipt on hand for records). I did this with my Dodge Caravan for transmission fluid when they had issues with non EOM fluids.

What are the thoughts of this group?

Dealerships usually have specials they run on the coolant and other things. It's $18.95 a gallon right now by me. No brainier to use the factory stuff at that price, or a bit more.

Going to bump an old thread.

Was jump starting a coworker and noticed my coolant lank was at the "Low" marker.

I recently flushed the coolant on my 2008 Prius which uses the Long Life Toyota stuff.

But back at the question... 2013 has Pink coolant in it and has only ever been serviced at the dealership. My new bottle of 00272-SLLC2 is def red and not pink!

Just make sure to use the SLL coolant (pink) and not the LL coolant (red). The coolant you gave a link to states SLL coolant, so that should be OK.

pink or red, I think you are splitting hairs. If you purchased the pre-diluted Toyota Super Long Life fluid you have the right stuff

Not so, Red coolant or LL coolant are for pre-2005 Tacoma = different formula.

I just did a drain and flush on my truck. I used Pentofrost A4. It's OE compatible and picked it up at Autozone.

I've used Zerex Asian or Valvoline Asian for mine. Have used the Valvoline more recently as it's cheap and readily available at several Walmarts here. Will drain the radiator and refill a couple times a year.

Resurrecting this thread... My 2011 Tacoma is at the "low" mark and I want to top off. I bought it used, so don't know the exact maintenance history for sure (I have the carfax and it indicates all maintenance at the dealer). It looks "pink" to me. Am I safe to put Toyota SLL in there? Or better yet, is there something at Oreilley or Autozone that will do the trick safely? Don't care so much about an extra $15, but it's a haul to get to the dealer.

I would say to just do a flush and be done with it just to be sure. Drain the radiator and then the two block drains. Fill up the radiator and reservoir with either OEM SLL or go with an Asian pink fluid like Pentosin A4 or Aisin pink coolant. Drive the truck for about a half hour with the A/C on hot. Let it cool down and check the coolant in the morning. If the reservoir is low fill it back up.

WalMart no longer sells the Zerex. When they carried it, it was $17/gal, an amazing price.
