I think what OP is looking for isn’t necessarily recalls (which is easily found via google) but more community found (potential) issues which I am sure are more plentiful that recalls.

SEARCH. There are hundreds of Theads on Tacoma issues.

A thread like this is just going to start a pissing match between the people who refuse to admit a Tacoma could ever have a problem and the people who have had major issues plus everyone in between.

Drive your truck, find out what YOU don’t like, screw the interdweeb. Can’t you make your own decisions? Why listen to others saying this and that, find out, how does your truck drive? What’s it doing you’re upset about.

Sorry, I asked! will look elsewhere.
Truck not even at dealership yet. Trying to plan ahead for what I am getting into. nothing is perfect at first, so trying to prepare for what that little part that is not perfect needs.

Why look for problems, be positive, like your truck for what it is, not what someone else says it is.

Welcome to TW; looks like you've done some research already, and if your truck isn't on the list for those issues, thats great! As for other community-found issues that aren't necessarily recalls, just do yourself a favor and leave while you can, because this place will tell you your truck sucks no matter how great it is. There's a little bit of sarcasm there, but seriously; this place "can" make you really grow to hate your truck. It can also be the opposite experience. Either way, this place will cost you money and time, guaranteed, that you'll never get back. Leave while you can, or stay with the sarcastic a-holes:) Good luck, and welcome to the forum!

You do realize that the harder you look for problems, the more problems you will find, right? Don't go chasing waterfalls.

Question now is whether you get an extended warranty. Some of the issues (P11EC and P11EE in particular ) I’ve seen around here would make me consider one if I were buying a 3rd gen.

Wait for it........wait for it.........Change your oil at 5k intervals. Anything less then that will render you a bad person and make you a non worthy Tacoma owner with a ticking time bomb for a truck....There someone had to say it. Let's get this party started.

We all want you to like your truck, when you first get it, drive it more,…… then reading in here. I’m hoping we didn’t run you off. If its like mine was, your problems will be minor, and only slightly irritating. But the new truck smell will overcome most of your concerns.

Bought my 2020 over the phone. No test drive or anything. The last Toyota truck I had was a brand new 1992 4x4. Owned that for 14 years and 2 head gaskets that was covered in and out of warranty.

Over 2 years later not one issue. Mostly stock with new A/T tires one sizes up. Wife and I love this truck.

    Enjoy your new ride.

If you really need some quick insight check out the CCN on YT. Should you buy the latest Toyota Tacoma 2016-2021?

The Tacoma, as with all Toyotas, are pretty solid.
If you modify it and tear it up, then you will have issues.
It really is no different than every other vehicle on the road.

regardless of manufacturer, it is safe to say that models near the end of production are the least likely to have recalls and issues. the worst of any issues should have been resolved and not find their way to current production. of course, there are no guarantees.

whether you will like the automatic transmission is easy to determine by taking a test drive. if you plan to get an aftermarket tune or an MT, forget this.

for me and i am sure at least a few others, the biggest concern is the burnt valve that occurs for some V6 owners. thankfully this is a small percentage, but it doesn't seem anyone really knows exactly why it occurs. as someone may have mentioned, you should consider an extended warranty. i am.

if you trust your dealership, ask a service advisor or one of the senior techs what issues they see on a regular basis. my hunch is they are going to tell you very few.

according to many on tw, tacoma's built in mexico are as good as any others regardless of where they were built. on the other hand, all ram's and chevy's built in mexico are a pos.

the ram i had that was built in mexico was a good truck.

I have had my 2017 since Dec of 2016 and It has been a great reliable truck for ~75k miles with many many more left! Previous cars that were okay, but had more issues was my 2014 CR-V, and my 2004 Civic-EX. Also my wifey 2011 Outback (2019 Forester great so far a ~65k). In other words ALL very reliable, but have had more issues than my Taco.. Your good, drive it and do not listen to 2nd Gen odd-balls, and I am willing to bet you get many miles/years of great reliable driving.

EDIT: some of my poor grammar
