When I was still in high school I rememer seeing a student that had a TRD OR Tacoma (1st gen) in the student parking lot. I remember seeing it had alot of ground clearance given it was a stock truck.

Years go by and I'm in the Marines, I have a steady paycheck and no vehicle. Miraculously get stationed in my home town a year and a half before I get out. Still have no car.

My sis comes to visit, she's working at the Tundra manufacturing plant (now also makes tacomas) in San Antonio. Conversation comes up about me needing a car. She tells me about her Toyota employee discount, and how Tacomas are very reliable. Go to the dealership the next day, and I get this bad boy pee runner (stock) fixed 'er up a bit...

Two years later, I trade her in(sometimes I wonder where she's at:( she was my first love) for this one
(been fixin' her up a bit at a time :D ) I really liked the first one, she was pretty fast and managed to get a bit crazy, but my current one can get even crazier. ;)

Growing up never had a nice vehicle or truck for that matter. Growing up and working fell in love with the 1st gen crew cabs. Joined the Marine Corps in 2005 and loved the 2nd gens. Got out of boot camp with a load of money because I was married at the time but couldn't get financed through Toyota. Ended up buying a ford explorer. Ex wife and I had 1 vehicle for the longest. Wanted to get a Jeep Wrangler JK due to its offroad capabilty and all the aftermarket support. Got out of the service and got divorced. Test drove several jk's and hated how underpowered they were. Test drove a Tacoma and loved it.

Taco's combine off road usefulness, dependability, after market support, and on road speed. And the awesome resale value!

After I got over the whole race care/fast&furious phase after highschool (300ZX & ZX6R) I was given a company truck (Ranger) and my boss bought it back from me for well over KBB and I put that down on a truck I wanted. Something bigger than the Ranger, but not as big as a 1500 or Tundra.

    Perfect size. Perfect truck!

I purchased a brand new 1986 Toyota SR5 4x4, it was my 2nd car, after a 1951 Ford F100 restored. I wanted a Toyota after the good times I had in my buddies 1983 Toyota 4x4. I grew up in the So Cal Desert and we actually went to High School through the desert. Good times, great truck!
    I also owned a 1990 4x4, and now a 2010 DC 4x4.

They weren't called Tacoma's back then but ever since i was in high school I wanted a Toyota pick-up. Been driving them for 25 years now, my first I had for 14 years and 425,000 miles and still got 800 bucks for it when I sold it. Man wish i still had that truck!!

    Not enough.
    1. My s/c dakota kept blowing heads (thus being the biggest pos money pit I have ever owned)
    2. Said dakota was getting around 12mpg
    3. My mustang was getting 9mpg

It was a combo of a current shitty truck and needing a vehicle with better mpg's so I traded my dakota for my brand new yota.

Best decision since that 4 some with two coked out hookers and a midget in vegas.

    I had several needs:

    1. Needed a place for a couple of kids (hence double cab)
    2. I'm a DIYer homeowner so I needed a truck for hauling construction materials, landscaping supplies, furniture, and the like.
    3. My folks have a small business I moonlight in. Our work takes us out to some relatively remote places on jeep trails, and we have had stuck trucks, so I wanted something that could get itself out of a pickle.
    4. Low cost of operation: maintenance and fuel economy (vs. a full size)

I've bought my first toyota in 1989 for $4250. It was an 1984 4x4 Xtra cab. It looked exactly like this:

I put a 4" lift and 33" BFGs on it. I loved the thing. I put 170,000 miles on it before i sold it in running condition. Since then I have owned 5 toyota pickups including my 08 tacoma. None have EVER broken down on me. Best trucks in the world IMO.

My first car ever was a 1984 Toyota pickup. When I got rid of it in 2004, it had almost 350,000 miles on the original engine. This is what made me decide that my next truck would be a Toyota. Since I'm not a full size truck guy, the Tacoma was a perfect fit.

Because I wanted truck that wasn't a POS and wouldn't lose 25% of its value immediately after signing the paper work.

When I was in high school my gym teacher had one and I fell in love. I LOVED my 1st gen. '04. Unfortunately I got into an accident and lost it. I like my 2nd gen Tacoma, but I liked the style of the 1st gen better. It didn't look as bulky/bubbly as the 1st.

This is my first "Tacoma", but I've had 2 Toyota pickups before.

My dad was always into Toyota trucks and had a '92 access cab, so when I was 16 I got a new '95 regular cab 4x4. The first Tacomas were already hitting dealers' lots, but I didn't like the new look of them, so I got the leftover model.

After that I went through a couple different vehicles before getting a used '88 regular cab 4x4. It was in great shape for it's age and served me well for several years before I just needed more room. Sold it to a buddy and it was totalled a few months later when a girl ran a stop sign and T-boned him.

Earlier this year I needed a new rig, so I traded in on the new Taco. Based on my previous experience with the Toyota pickups I knew I'd love it and didn't even look at other brands.

My dad still has the '95. It's an extra vehicle and doesn't get driven much, so it's still in awesome shape. My step-daughter is going to start driving in a year or so, so maybe I'll buy it back from him :)
