Well... for one, they are comparing a 15w to a 5w, which is not a valid comparison. Second, they aren't stating just HOW used the used 15W happens to be. I suspect that it has been run FAR beyond its service interval, like 10 times as far or more.

So their video is dramatic, but invalid.

And actually, there is one thing they talk about in that video that is completely wrong... they suggest that the older the oil gets, the WORSE it flows when cold. This if factually incorrect. In fact, the older the oil gets, the THINNER it becomes at HIGH temperature. Multi-viscosity oils are multi-viscosity because of polymers added to them that coil up at low temperatures, and stretch out at high temperatures. They stretch out as the oil warms up in order to maintain a high viscosity (thicker). As the oil ages, the polymer breaks down, and the high temperature viscosity ends up lower than it would otherwise be, while leaving the low temperature viscosity more or less the same.

So that video is actually comparing 15w40-based SLUDGE with clean 15w40 with slightly used 5w40 with clean 5w40.

synthetic doesnt breakdown or lose viscosity as quick as regular oil or thats what I was told.

    I agree good sir.

It maintains a more consistent viscosity at a wider temperature range. Both negate and positive temperatures.

It costs more so therefore it just has to be better !!!

Thing is it will pick up particles of metal so it still needs to be changed sure it might take longer to break down .

Although it is getting more research all the time

It is much better then when it first hit the public years ago

Myself I still have yet to jump on the band wagon

'News' sites like that should be ignored. When you open it up, it's filled with ads and dramatic headlines for other 'stories' it's nothing to clickbait.

I'll take my oil explanations from a tribologist.

Man made oil still has fine dirt in it. It comes from the earth. There is no dirt in synthetic oil. I read it on the internet, sooooooo

Conventional oil the molecules are square under a microscope. Synthetic the molecules are 100% round. Thats why synthetic causes less wear and tear

    Huh?

Conventional motor oil has molecularly that's differing in it's circumferences. Synthetic is uniform in that aspect... At least that's what the interstates told me. :rasta:

Thats the easist way to explain it to people, synthetic has perfected formed molecules while as conventional does not. That is also why synthetic oil can make leaks appear when conventional hides them due to molecular shape.
