Hey guys, ever since joining I've wanted to mod my truck more and more, and now that everything I wanted to do originally is done I'm pretty much out of ideas. I've considered a 50 inch light bar on the roof or on the headache rack but not really sure if I care for the looks of them, not to mention I wouldn't really get that much use out of it I don't think. I've also considered sliders but for how seldom I go "hard core" off roading I just don't think I'd ever need those either. Also not in the market for a winch unfortunately. Mods can be interior or exterior I don't really care. I do know the factory dome light is an absolute turd and I'd love to brighten the interior up a bit. The sky is the limit for the bed really, I can change the design and add things onto it at will so if any ideas pop up in your head let me know. The truck is primarily a daily driver but I do like to occasionally off road and camp from time to time. I'd love to get some sort of camping ability out of it using the bed, because I hate tents with a passion. Don't have a massive budget but wouldn't mind spending about 500 bucks on something functional. Or various little things are okay too. I have no problem getting stuff fabbed either, my welder is very reasonably priced. I'm just not happy unless I'm tinkering on something. Thanks guys :D And yes I've read through some of the mod lists out there. But looking for more personal opinions.

Not a bad idea, last time I went off roading I definitely came close to where a snorkel would have been needed. Hitting the water at 30 didn't help that situation though. But definitely a good idea.

Thanks :) Bumper and bed were home made by my welder and I, bit of a project but well worth it!

Well, in my case I'd like you to share one of your own mods. Ha. Interested in your led turn signals. Are those the cob strips that use double sided tape? Or do you have them built in to the filler panels? I'm thinking about changing mine up as I have bolt leds in mine. I think yours look better. But hard to tell in your pic. Got any closeup shots and maybe output shots?

They're 6 dollar ebay specials with double sided tape. The tape is ridiculously strong though. Haven't had an issue with them. Other than the fast blinking from the low load. Here's an older vid. But yes they're the cob ones, forgot the brand name https://youtu.be/_40PP15LHdw

Sliders are great for more than just protection off road, I also use mine as step bars, nice for loading stuff, especially on my rack.

Plus when you're lifted a stock jack ain't gonna work real well, so the sliders and a high lift add a ton of function

If you don't really see a need for a snorkel I don't see why you'd spend the money. If you want one, go with one of the knockoff ones, a lot of people on here say they're pretty awesome and a third of the cost of an ARB safari snorkel

High lift is definitely something I'll be getting my hands on. I like the idea of sliders a lot, but don't like the idea of welding to these cheesy frames. And I've heard the bolt ons are a real pita. But I'm not 100% against them, I like the idea of being able to park places and not get door dinged too.

They help a lot in parking lots ;)
I remember years back a guy telling a story of some lady bitching at him saying she hit her car door on his slider. He said something in effect like 'yeah, instead of hitting my door?'

You can't weld direct to the frame with the outer legs, you're right, the frame is too thin. You need to weld base plates directly to the frame and then weld the liters to that and gusset them for support image.jpgweld ons are the way to go imo, bolt ons are a lot more work and more expensive if you're buying them.

Check out 4xinnovations, $300 shipped for DOM weld ons with a kick out similar to the ones above.

With that bumper and a flat bed, I think sliders are a pretty natural step, armor all the way around

Another thing I'd do is ditch those mirrors, they don't break away and they will break somewhere.

Get a pair of electric off an 01-04 and just move the panes manually, they break away, have twice the viewing surface and don't look like they came off a Camry.

    image.jpg
They're like $40 a piece on eBay and Amazon

For 300 shipped I think I may go for those. Thats a really good price. It'll be awesome to see careless people ram their door into my sliders :p and I like those mirrors a lot as well. I've almost smashed my current ones a bunch of times already.

you could do an all out assault on the interior lighting swapping to led's and upgrade the parking and headlamps to HID or LED, i can say that the differance is crazy with the interiors at night. nice truck.
