At 40,000 miles the rear window leaked. It was technically out of warranty, but the local dealer fixed it at no cost.

One new U-Joint at 170,000. We were in AZ at the Grand Canyon when I found the problem. Left my wife to see the sights and drove 80 miles to the closest dealer to get it fixed. I lost a day of our vacation

Alternator at 180,000. Had to have it towed.

The HVAC motor died at about 200,000 miles. Cost me about $120

Toyota replaced rear springs at 200,000 on their dime. This was part of a recall.

It's at 253,000 now and other than the usual stuff like plugs, brakes, tires, batteries, belts, hoses, etc. that's it.

Not the trucks' fault but I had to have it towed one other time when it broke a serpentine belt. I replaced it at 100,000 and thought I did it at 200,000. Apparently, I did not because it broke at 245,000 and left me stranded. But that one was on me, not the truck.

HVAC blower at around 20k miles. $30 fix.
Vibration under some braking conditions when purchased at 17k miles. Replaced rear drums and shoes. Under $200 if I recall.
Brake pedal switch causing erroneous "Brake and accelerator pressed at the same time" error and limp mode. $35 fix.

I had a couple of first year of a new generation TSBs, but after that my truck has been great. Trip meter would randomly reset and needed to be replaced (see post #350 for the TSB).

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-uninitiated-trip-meters-reset.399689/page-18

Rear end was weeping (see post #1931 for the TSB).

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ble-loss-of-control-of-vehicle.488536/page-97

Factory battery developed a bad cell at 33 months. Replaced free under warranty.

From 33 month to over 9 years later my truck has had no problems.

Edit: later posts reminded me I too had a braking vibration at about 40K miles. Put PowerStop pads and rotors on and the vibration went away.

My 2018 OR DCLB had the fuel pump recall and then was totaled after 30K miles. My 2022 OR DCLB with 31K miles on it has had zero problems, the baby seat bracket passed the hammer test.

My Tacoma came from the factory with a misaligned bed, rear bumper, hood, passenger rear door and a dent in the bed spent two days in the body shop at 1,700 miles. It developed a rough idle at 7,500 miles but corrected itself after switching to 93 octane the of course it had the axle nut recall.

Note: Toyota would not have corrected any of these issues if I had not documented them on the sales receipt.

My 2016 TRDOR manual had ZERO issues with it. Traded it in w/ 50k miles problem free in 2023.
Have a 2023 TRD Pro now with 10k on it. So far so good - but looking at Raptors. We'll see. Its all about the 8.1' garage lol

Third brake light leak, and rear brake shoe replacement at what seemed too early to me (~55k).

Herky jerky transmission at 40 mph and low RPM. Tuned, different octanes, refreshed transmission fluid has never eliminated the problem completely.

OEM battery leaked lots of acid for me. Dealer replaced it for me with a Toyota Surestart 84 month deal at my 15,000 mile service. No cost to me. No other problems besides the service department always put the oil filter cover on too tight that it would be difficult to remove in 5,000 miles when I'd do it myself. Now that there's no more Toyota care left it's not been a problem since.

    Rear axel almost fell off!

Well kinda, not really. There was a recall for some welding debris that had to get cleaned up back there.
