Satoshi'd grill. blacked out badges. aftermarket sound system. De-chromed and color matched. OME 885s + Dakars with 3rd leaf removed. LR UCAs. Scs stealth 6 with 285 duratracs. BAMF sliders
What kind of radio, smar = small? You will probably need a dash kit, check out cruthfield i think metra just came out with a dash kit for 2012

Just get the perfect fit alpine, i think its only $1500. Im pretty happy with my jvc, how much are you willing to spend OP? Do you want navigation? I you get the dash kit any double din should fit, so your limited to 7 inch screen or smaller unless you get the alpine perfect fit which i think is 8 inch

Lol guess i shoulda been more clear, when alpine came out with perfect fit for 2012 tacomas, this is before metras kit, their kit was meant for an 8 inch touchscreen not the normal double din. This big dog right here http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500INEZ928/Alpine-INE-Z928HD.html?tp=20217

If you are searching on crutchfield and specify that you have a 2012 tacoma, this is the only unit that will come up, because they dont offer the metra double din kit yet. The alpine perfect fit only works with an 8 inch touchscreen http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500KTXTCM8/Alpine-Perfect-FIT-for-Toyota-Tacoma.html

Sorry if i was misleading OP. so if you purchase the double din dash kit by metra, then you can fit any double din radio. Double din touch screens ushually range from 6 to 7 inch screen, and anywhere from a few hundred (without nav) to over 1000 with nav.

I pre-ordered the clarion nx-702. Got sick of waiting for it to come out and then more i researched clarion head units the more bad reviews i found, so...
I bought the Kenwood Excelon DNX6990HD and returned it, i felt i was paying to much for a 6 inch screen (it was alot more when it first came out) http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113DNX...HD.html?tp=20217&avf=N&nvpair=FFBrand|Kenwood
Then i bought the JVC KW-NT800HDT http://www.crutchfield.com/p_105KWN800H/JVC-KW-NT800HDT.html?tp=20217&avf=N and its pretty fucking sweet. My only complaint is the navigation could be better, it uses navtech and doesnt compare with companys like garmin.

No problem just didnt want anyone to get confused and think that kit will work with any double din. Does anyone know anyhing else about the 2012 metra kit? I know a few people on here have it

    Edit: here we go http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/243396-2012-dash-kit-finally.html

i have noticed when looking at 2012 tacos the radios look way better and actually fit the truck well, wish they would fit perfectly on others.

^ nice! It looks good black, i like how you did everything black. Is that the schoshe (spelling) kit? Someone told me the metra kit uses the stock metal brackets so it is more secure and doesnt shake but i havnt really looked into it.
How did the paint job come out and how was the prep? Ive seen people just clean and spray with krylon plastic fusion and it comes out pretty good. Some guys bake the paint on and it comes out real nice.

iv got the metra but wanted to get the scoshce( spelling) idk. haha but i was looking at a new metra for the 2011 and it was different and it actually came with plastic brackets, but im using the metal ones and they are strong, but it is not the bracket moving its the thing you screw it to in the truck.

The only good thing about the schoschesche kit, (giving up on spelling) is it doesnt have all the stupid dimples. I think the metras do have the dimples right?
    Sorry for the :threadjacked: OP
