I have heard about that, and you could be right since my skids from you guys haven't flaked off but they are pretty beat up.

I didn't find prepping my RCI hard. I just sanded the areas I could get to easily with a random orbit sander, and medium blasted the others i couldn't. I would've blasted the whole thing but my compressor can't keep up to do that much. Then hit them with the rattle can.

Sure it might not look as pretty but from the abuse they take who cares. And its easy to touch up.

Youre a step ahead of most being able to blast them. Thats a huge advantage to ensuring a proper adhesion. We sand blast all our products that get powder. You have to, or youre just wasting your time and money.

blaster I have was cheap haha.

$50 on sale at Princess Auto (similar to harbour freight)
Its a siphon fed one. Fill the holder, attach compressor hose and blast away. Works pretty good actually. If I had a higher CFM compressor it would be much better.

I even made my own little blasting booth when I did it out of some 2x2s and vapour barrier wrap. Neighbors didn't know what the fuck was going on haha.

Had this whole thing in my driveway with sliders sitting on saw horse. Went in it with my coveralls on, full face respirator and blasting gloves.
When done just swept up all the aluminum oxide medium I was using and then put it back in the hopper. Use the comprssor to blow off some in my coveralls. Then rinsed them with the hose before throwing them in the wash.

Looks and strength my choice was easy..... C4 Fabrication. They have no option for coating but sliders get scratched and if its powder coated your gonna have a hell of a time with matching color. So the choice is simple paint yourself and it gets scratched you touch up with the rattle can. If you mall crawl powder coat is fine. 2017052695171551-01.jpg 20170714_184132.jpg

Agreed, don't waste money powder coating sliders unless they're only for looks...they get beat up when used like they should be and that expensive coating will get ruined. Rattle can all the way, or bedliner them.

Here is a man that knows wtf he's talking about. I had a 2013 wrangler got the flat fenders pre powder coated. Worse money I ever spent. Tried everything to touch up the rock chips and nothing matched even close!powder coating is way over rated for someone that actually uses sliders or bumpers for that matter,

I prefer to keep the battle scars on them unless they start to rust, then I'll hit then with a rattle can.

As long as you have a good compressor they work great. Just needs 90-100psi steady. I can only do that in short burst lol

Depends though, my sliders get banged up on the bottom mostly and no one sees that. By the time I will really need to repaint them, spending $200 to powder coat both wont be all that bad.

When I bashed up my skid plates (also mobtown) I rattled canned the whole thing including powder and they look good.

The compressor in our shop is a hoss. It won't skip a beat with that. Weve used it to paint cars and run our plasma cutter.

Thanks for the kind words, we are a small shop, but we stay up pretty late each night to make sure we answer every email.

We offer 3 different types of sliders for the 3rd gen Tacoma. A step slider, a rock slider, and our ultimate rock slider.

All three sliders feature a full frame height one piece 3/8" thick plate, with full frame height 3/8" thick plates mounted on the inside of the frame that are fastened together with grade 8 5/8" bolts. This mounting design offers virtually zero deflection under 2 foot drops onto sharp rocks while rock crawling. Seven legs connect our frame plates to the main tubes to further eliminate deflection. We conduct destructive tests on all our armor to ensure its designed properly. It's the mechanical engineer in us I guess. No welding, drilling, or enlarging frame holes needed to go rock crawling. Frame is completely unaltered.

Step and Rock sliders are available in .120 HREW or DOM based on your needs and your budget along with 8 different fill plate designs.

Our Ultimate sliders are the strongest slider in the industry that we have found. Constructed entirely out of .188 DOM! With a mounting system that will absolutely protect your frame from any type of damage, and 3/16" thick tubes, they come with a lifetime warranty from denting, bending, or really anything. If you can break one, we'll send you new ones. We use our ultimate sliders on our 9,000 lbs 200 land cruiser and bash it hard through the rocks, so far we have broken one rock in half, which makes for a good story.

At the end of the day, sliders are a wonderful mod, and any slider is going to provide significant increase in protection for your investment, so you can't go wrong any of the great companies out there. We come from the rock buggy world and make our armor to handle that level of off-roading which may not be the right answer for some people, and that's okay. Just figured I would explain our sliders a bit to everyone, and offer another option.

    Rob

IMO mobtown has the best design and engineering. IMO All-pro are the best looking as they tuck nicely and tuck up very tight. I would take advantage of that sale if I were you.

I'm in SoCal, too. RCI gets my vote. I bought mine (bolt-on, top tread plate, powder coat) after helping to install a set on a friend's Pro.

    http://www.rcimetalworks.com/2016-Tacoma-Rock-Sliders-TACO-16-06.htm

It's 15% off if you order today (Nov 30). 20% off if your order is over $1000 (good deal if you're looking to add some skid plates, too -- I have RCI's aluminum front and trans plates).
