So, I've been having cooling issues for some time now. I did not really pay close attention to the "normal" engine temp, before I began to have issues. I drive 9+ hours on my trips back home from school(one corner of Texas, to the other) and I have seen temps from 194° to 203°. These drives are long and hot(giggidy) so I believe the hotter temps are "normal".

What running temps do ya'll experience?

Typically you should run 5 to 10 over your T stat value, regardless of speed or weather conditions.

    Might be worth another look.

Not sure what the actual temp is, but my truck runs dead even H/C

Yeah....gonna jump in on that rad soon, maybe. Things took a turn for the worst when I drove back down for Easter brake. I changed water pump and fan clutch....was good for most of drive home. I'm in the trusty 96 1500 until the Taco gets fixed.....been an ongoing problen for a while.....contemplating trading it in and giving it the finger as I leave the dealer lot.

I live in florida, and standard day temp of around 85 degrees doing 70mph with A/c blasting I’m between 192.2-194. 195.8 if I go up a hill and drops back down instantly. Been told these are normal temps.

Cool. I think this is the "normal" range too.

URD thermostat adapter and 160 degree thermostat. Bought mine a month ago, have yet to install. You can actually buy the adapter and 160 thermo straight from URD, just have to find the right page. The regular page is for the adapter and 170 degree thermo, 160 is alittle more but worth it according to @Roostfactor ‘s testing of both 170 and 160.
I believe @Torspd stated the lowest temp before a CEL is 168 and the 160 thermo holds right around there, like 168.8 - 169

217ºF, trucking through the desert on I-8 headed between Nevada and Cali. Was about 115º+ ambient that day. OEM radiator and 170º t-stat. Turning on the A/C made the temp go north a few over 220º, so it stayed off. The next border patrol stop, made for a delusional dehydrated conversation. :tumbleweed:

Correct. Needs to hit 168º to prevent from getting a CEL.

I voted for 190-192, but it only seems to get that high if I'm climbing a hill or idling in hot weather.

I typically see 186 or so in mild or warm weather, and winter can be as low as 170 if I'm going down a lot of hills in cold weather..

This is what my OBDII is reading as I'm idle in the shade and it is 84 degrees outside.

190 is the highest I've seen it
