Sorry, venting a bit, been stationed here for about a year and change now. My 19 with 2500 miles windshield is already peppered with small chips. Grill already has a few nicks too, got a chip on the hood prior to installing PPF, chip on the door last week. I am running mudflaps, staying 2 car lengths behind, no following semis or dump trucks, installed PPF on my front and rockers and still finding chips. Super frustrating. Guess this is just the norm here, maybe I'm missing something? Just trying to keep my truck somewhat nice before I move back to IL in July and I know its just a truck.

Confirmed, unavoidable. Don’t sweat it or get the truck wrapped and even then you’ll still have some issues but less.

Some paint colors are better than others, but it's still pretty thin. Toyota has always had issues with it... at least you are not in a BBP. That seems to be the major loser on the 3rd gens.

I've wondered about this, some people say all manufacturers paint is like this, but after owning a few of these trucks, I'm starting to question if its not just thin Toyota paint.

Have you looked around what's beside the paved roads, and what the unpaved roads are like?

I mean it's not dairy country with soft earth and lush greenness, right?

I think so, because my parent's Ford's never chipped like this, one pebble and its down to the primer. Oh well its just a truck right. Breathe in, breathe out.

Thank you captain obvious, lol. Truck is a mall crawler, just amazed for staying on pavement and taking all the precautions I have that it still looks like this 2 months into ownership.

Yes it's just a tool, but you need to address those before taking it back to Illinois or it will rust fast.

This is not enough distance. While in the freeway, set your DCC to max distance and you'll be better off.

Same here up in the Socal High Desert ..... constant strong Desert winds and plenty of open Desert makes for sandblasted windshields and paint
