Just bought a 2013 Tacoma a few weeks back. I had not driven it at night time until last night and I noticed that the head lights are horrible. I dont thing there is anything wrong with them other than that they are just rather lame. My normal work-day car is a bit upscale and the head lights are incredible. Maybe I'm just too accustomed to those lights.

Is anybody swapping out the bulbs for something better? If so, which ones?

    Thanks!

Yup... battery is fine. The truck starts like a champ everytime and the lights do not get brighter by revving the engine.

I've also wondered about this...are there bulbs you can buy to increase the brightness without doing the whole HID swap??

You're up scale work-day vehicle probably has a factory hid setup. Nothing you can really use on the streets that'll get your tacoma anywhere close to them besides properly retrofitted hid projectors. Like you said, you are probably accustomed to them. I am as well. Every new vehicle that I have had since having proper hids has been retrofitted by me to run hid projectors. Maybe some better quality bulbs that put out more lumens might help.

Get some bright bulbs like Sylvania Silverstars. Then find a shop that has a laser headlight alignment tool or one of those optical alignment machines. These two things combined will make a huge difference.

YEP! You want bright, perfect and direct fit... I got the guy! For fogs and headlights for real HID H4-4 and fogs! on Ebay his nick is
hidautovisions941. Just installed H4-4 8000K headlights and fog lights.

    like these...

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/11137391306...1&exe=13453&ext=34391&sojTags=exe=exe,ext=ext

but message him tell you what you need and he will work with you. I already had the ballast, he charged me $65 for the H4-4 headlights and fog light bulbs. I'll send him a message telling him I recommended them to TacomaWorld folks so mention that in message and see if that makes a difference in price for you guys :) I took pics after install I'll grab them and post in a few :)

I had some of these that were essentially the same as the Lifetime LEDs but marketed by Plasma Glow. They were great when they worked but fizzled out after 18 months. I run stock halogens now.

The 5000K I replaced were almost 4 years old, replaced for different color, they are still good. These are the pics I sent to the guy I bought these from.

    TIP:
The H4-4 bulbs have 2 separate HID bulbs (they use 2 ballast per headlight bulb), 1 for LO and one for HI. Do the mod that keeps your fog lights and your low beams lit when hi beams are turned on... night become DAYLIGHT! I have been running that mod for about years, with halogens and HID's, works great!
