My 255/86/16 Cooper ST Maxx tires have served me very well, but with life changes I'm looking for a less aggressive, more AT set of tires (like the Load-C Duratracs).

What do you guys do when switching tires when your old ones still have life in them? My Coopers are at about 50%. Is there a market for used tires?

I know there's a marketplace for them, but I guess I asked the wrong question. Is there a quick/easier way? For example...local shops that buy tires or franchises that do some trade-in, etc.

You can sell them quick to a used tire shop, or somewhat quickly over craigslist.

I have had good luck with craigslist. Its free, easy, and quick if you price them right.

Post a thread in the TW wheels & tires marketplace and link it in the Austin thread? :notsure:

And Duratracs are about as loud and rough as ST Maxx, FYI.

Really? The Coopers are 10 ply and I'm looking at the 6 ply Duratracs.

I run the load range C Duratracs as a winter tire. Ride at 29 psi is still noticeably rougher than my Hankook ATMs (which are SL or P-metric) at 34 psi. The Duratracs also have a howl at highway speeds sounding similar to big rigs, which is more a function of tread pattern than ply count. If you want a smooth ride and low road noise, go with an AT tire in SL / P-metric, like Hankook ATM, Cooper ATP, or Toyo AT II, all of which are very capable off-road until you get to deep snow or deep mud.
