For me, Sensitive stuff goes in the cab and I have a large plastic tote in the bed to keep other stuff dry. It rarely rains in Southern California so I’m not concerned and haven’t had any issues.

Good, you have it all covered as long as you stay in SC where it rarely rains. Anywhere else would not work easily without the drain pipes. Here in the Great North it would be a necessrty as it rains a lot and in the winter the snow would melt on the cover and drain into the box. just saying you are lucky.

I'm also looking at replacing my vinyl tri-fold with a hard tri-fold. The existing one has done well for many years but the stitching is finally starting to go. Time for an upgrade. Forgetting price, which hard tri-fold is the best for not leaking. I have a 2013 Tacoma TRD 5' bed. Not looking for water tight but don't want it raining from the joints.

I personally have the Bakflip MX4 and recommend it. A friend of mine has the Gator FX3 and it operates pretty much the exact same way and he’s happy with it.

Im considering the Bakflip MX4, Undercover armor flex or ultra flex, or Gator FX3 (All are owned by the same company and the websites are almost exactly the same). Are there other Tonneau covers I should look at?

Another popular brand is Lomax. Very similar to the Bakflip. Their mechanism for holding the folded cover up against the cab is different though (the Stance version vs Bakflip's MX4). There's a whole Lomax thread where you can read a bunch of ppl's thoughts on it and probably ask longer term owners specific questions.

I originally had the Revolver X4, the adhesive gave up on the underside.I loved the cover though, and after I contacted Bak Industries they sent me a replacement which was the new X4s. I think it looks much better!

Good to know. I need security but my 2015 tailgate doesn’t lock. Do you know of any that lock and wrap over to block the tailgate from being opened when the cover is down??

There are two aftermarket locks for the 2.5 gen but both have some reliability/durability issues.

Okay, I need help finding the right tonneau. Here's my criteria:

    1. Must be a hard trifold. I will need to drill a hole in the rear section to accommodate my CB antenna mount (it's a QD mount that doesn't always have the antenna mounted, but stick up from the bed)
    2. Must be easily removable (minus the rails)
    3. MUST NOT interfere with the stock bedrail system. Using part of it is fine, but I still need room for the cleats.

Cost and security are not an issue, but waterproofing/ flapping around still is. Please let me know what you think! I've looked at a bunch of different options, but I'm having a tough time deciding.

I’m sure you’ve looked at the Bakflip MX4. You have to take the rails off but you use the existing holes and it lowers a bit with the brackets they come with but I still have my cleats and tie downs attached and I installed it myself, no problem. I’m sure you could drill through it if you wanted to but it comes with the drip tubing that I also installed, even though I’m in SoCal and we hardly get rain. My buddy’s Gator is almost identical. Don’t know if this helped but thought I’d post some pics and try to point you in a direction. 9571E13C-3645-4586-A4E2-A83478334EEC.jpgB87B2811-9E44-4125-9CF5-FD57E7BA6D1A.jpg49D57C06-CBD6-465D-935D-B26F14B150F9.jpg

Thanks for those close up shots, those really helped. The Bakflip was one of the ones I was looking at. The hole I will be drilling isn't for drainage, it's so my CB mount can poke out of the cover because it uses the rail system for attachment.

Sorry, my bad. That shouldn’t be a problem. I have a step drill bit that would put a hole in that aluminum cover in a second.

Yeah I have those too. problem is figuring out a rubber collar or sleeve to seal (ish) around the mount when the cover is closed.
