Mine just crapped out yesterday and this is the first post that popped up in the search.
I loaded up to go riding and the start cycle sound weak, took a few seconds longer and both trips were reset to 0...which sucks because I use trip B for oil changes and A for drives.

Get back to the truck at the end of the day and it was really dead, just clicks but it jumped in seconds.

I’d rather have picked up a high end larger battery but needed to deal with whoever’s open late saturday and ended up with a $240 3yr die hard, at least it has 750 cca.

I guess 6 years plus is pretty impressive for a battery, and mine sits a lot during the week.

I was at the dealer in January and they said the battery was fine, I was definitely suspicious because of the age. Still seems weird that there’s almost no warning signs and it craps out so quickly. Glad all of the settings remained.

Trip reset is a low voltage thing. If I leave my dash can in Park mode in cold weather that’s what I get..

Most of the time they seem to die without much warning, at the most inconvenient time possible...

Over the years I jump started dozens of people who drove to work with no problem and came out at the end of the day to a dead battery.

Not only does it reset the trip ODOs, but also clears the MPG-per-tank figure (resets the display to digital speedo too if you had it set on something else).

That same evening, it became a no-start at all (starter just went rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat). So I just bump-started it (was already facing downhill).
That's the fastest I've ever had a battery go from great to kaput. OEM battery was about 4 years old.

Any OEM battery over 4 years old can be considered money in the bank (plus you're on borrowed time)...mine's an 18 and still with the original battery at 90,000 miles....NOCO boost onboard waiting for the day it's needed.

Failing batteries do weird things. I don’t trust meters etc. I change mine every 4 years regardless…

Yeah totally agree on the 4 years and borrowed time past that, I rolled the dice and lost!

I was hoping to get a higher quality like a north star unfortunately pep boys/advance auto didn’t have them.
Years ago I had an optima yellow and that didn’t last any longer than the interstate
