$3200 installed for this ARE Overland from here in Reno, NV. 14 week wait. Fully optioned out aside from a couple very minor things and a roof rack.

I found one on MP a few weeks ago in a junk yard, had to drive 2 1/2 hours to get it but it's exactly what I wanted. Has windoors on both sides, Thule rack on top, sliding/fold down window in front, carpet inside, power lock on rear window, and the best part was I don't have to paint it, $1,000 :D

After a month of refreshing this website, FB marketplace, and CL a hundred times a day I found this cap for $450 about two hours away. When I picked it up the guy said he had 7 cash offers before he could take down the post! It's a Leer 100R.

Being patient and moving quickly when something comes up is key. Just gonna raptor line it now to get it closer to a color match.

Got lucky and picked up this color matched SnugTop from a fellow TW'er for a few hundred bucks and a case of beer.

Couldn't agree more. Patience and quick action are the key to finding a good used topper.

Picked this up on 9/11/21 from San Diego. I have been looking for months on every platform. I almost just ordered a new one.

The seller had just posted it on offer up “34 minutes ago” at about 1130pm. I moved in quick and setup an early time for the next day. Turns out he was from Tijuana Mexico and worked in San Diego. I met him at a Walmart parking lot at 1030 am since my drive was 2 and a half hours away. $1,100 plus I gave him my OEM soft bed cover.

He said he had double cash offers with trades after he set up the time with me but he was a man of his word and didn’t realize what it was worth until it was too late. He showed me the pictures and messages of other people trying to buy it. I had already missed out on a few shells because I didn’t move fast enough. The key is being the first one able to pick it up ASAP! Socal buyers move extremely fast.

it’s an A.R.E overland series shell like new. Not a single scratch. He had just bought the truck a 2019 pro and didn’t like the shell. Exactly the shell I was looking for and came with the bonus Yakima roof rack accessories.

I know! I felt a little bad but then I remembered how long I’ve been looking and how many times I was bummed out for missing a deal. It all worked out in the end.

Just ordered a Leer 100XQ with removable back glass, 12v triple power outlet, roof rack rails, vented sliding side windows for $3500 installed in Hampton Roads, VA. Been 3 weeks since the order, hoping mine comes sooner than what I’ve been seeing. I was quoted 5-8 weeks. I’m hopeful that since I didn’t want windoors I’ll have better luck with my wait.

Bought a Leer 180 for 3rd gen with a few add-ons- removable front sliding window, side sliders, headliner, and tracks for a rack, $2700 installed in OR. They said the wait would be up to 13 weeks but it was ready in 6. Sold my Leer 180 from my 2nd gen for $1200 on Craigslist.

Great idea for a thread. I’ve been shopping for a new topper and it’s been tough to guess what everything costs since they don’t list anything online.

Just got this ARE top off a fellow Tacoma world member. Drove 2.5 hrs to Wisconsin to snatch it up for $300. Has a roof rack which I was dying to have but does have the back glass busted out from the previous owners accident. Currently getting quotes from ARE dealers on the new back glass. Also looking to rhino line the entire shell. I dig the red but the truck is resembling Santa’s sleigh at this point. Lol

I got some of the stuff and a road map for the rest...
Leer 100XR with sliding windows, gun rack, no keys. $800 in Lancaster, PA. Guy threw in a Bedrug and installed the cap for me.

Has a taillight and interior light. Wish it had headliner...guess what I'm going to learn how to install?

$500 then I spent another $100 on paint, clear coat, and new lift shocks.

How’s you get away with sub $100 on clear coat? You redo the whole thing, or what?

Two cans of 2K clear coat was 45. Rest of the dupli color was about the same.
